GameClient.exe bug related to Steam wrapper

Star Trek Online runs successfully when it looks like this in Process Explorer.

However, more often, this occurs. The GameClient.exe moves entirely out of steam.exe > Star Trek Online.exe to a separate process during the log-in process.

When that happens, the client freezes, grinding Windows 10 Pro 64-bit to a halt. Killing the process in Process Explorer is the only way to end this.

Worth noting: if GameClient.exe becomes a separate process while playing, it doesn't crash and freeze Windows. It only appears to happen after I click the Engage button from the launcher and while attempting to connect to the servers. I'm on Holodeck, by the way.

Can you please fix this?

Here's my Dxdiag info https://pastebin.com/7UyWrqnm

Please help.

Please fix this. Having to kill the process ten times in a row is not fun.

Have you tried using the game client exe directly from within the games folder itself?

Yes. It happens occasionally, but not as bad as through Steam. Unfortunately logged time isn't recorded.

I cannot be sure, but it might have been related to Razer's suite of apps. At least one would create a wrapper around the Star Trek Online.exe process. I've since uninstalled the suite. I'll continue to monitor to see if this "zombie" process happens again. If it doesn't, there's a strong indicator Razer's apps don't play nicely with STO.
