Need help with identifying an ability

It looks like an electric shield bubble. I have only seen this ability used on sci ships like the legendary Glenn or the t6 Oberth. I'm on PS4 and it's been driving me crazy what is triggering it. It seems to go up in Red Alert mode. Anyway I'm not sure it's a sci ship exclusive ability or a sci cap ability or a personal trait. I know it's not a Boff ability. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    How big is it? What colour? Does it extend beyond the ship that activates it? How long does it remain active?

    I'm thinking of either the Undine T5 active ability or fleet shields from the Starbase with the [adapt] modifier - those add a bubble like thing to your ship. But it's hard to tell without more details.

    I got the screen shots. I have a few more if this isn't enough. It's not really electric but some kind of shield bubble.

    Ok I hope this is acceptable but I loaded 6 screenshots. The first 3 are shots of the shield and the other 3 are of my ship equips, BOFF seats and abilities and personal traits. Hope that helps thanks guys.

    To be fair - and I may be mistaken here - I don't see anything special. It looks like the regular shield visuals that appear when you're under attack.

    It goes up as soon as I fire my weapons and go to red alert before I even take a hit. Also when my shields take damage it's not that visible and only shows up at the spot here the beam or torpedo hits. It also lasts for about 10 to 20 sec I think. I included one with me not getting hit and it was still up. It might be a PS4 thing idk but I do know it only shows up on my sci ships. Non of my other ships do this. The Legendary Glenn is the worst, bc of the default camera setting for the Glenn. When that shield goes up it obscures my vision.

    While I'm a PC Player... I know that console automates a lot of stuff compared to PC, especially in regards to powers. So I'm wondering if what is happening is that its autofiring the Phased Space Membrane console as soon as you get into combat.

    If we were able to see what buffs were active at the time it might be easier to ID. As of right now all I can think of is the Phased Space Membrane console, as you have 3 universals with clicky powers, but of the three I can rule out one because its the chain web one, which leaves the Phased Subspace Membrane in the sci slot and whatever that universal is in the Engineering slot. Literally nothing else you have equipped has any kind of power that affects shields, and based on the duration you gave that rules out an autofire of Emergency Power to Shields.

    My Glenn build doesn't use that console or the Prolonged Engagement Power Dynamo, in fact I never requisitioned the Grissom for that character. Both builds do share the web console though, but I agree I don't think that is it. The capt for the Glenn is Sci where as the Grissom is an Eng capt. I'm thinking that it may have something to do with the secondary deflector. Another possibility is that all the gear on both characters is crafted and I was very selective with what modifier I wanted. I did take screenshots for my Glenn similar to the other ship, Maybe these can help.

    Then... I don't have a clue. Like I said, none of that gear, at least on PC, has any special abilities that trigger a shield bubble like that. And I don't see any BOff abilities that would either, or for the duration you're talking about.

    I did some research and I'm almost certain it's the secondary deflector. Both ships use a Resonating Secondary Deflector which is a defensive deflector. Some gear do give of flourishes like that. The M.A.C.O. Impulse Engines come to mind. In sector space your ship is enveloped in a warp bubble when you throttle past the first setting. The wiki calls it the asynchronous warp field. Anyway I'll try de-equipping my secondary deflector and see what happens. I'll let you know if that it. Thanks guy.

    It's not the membrane.
    It uses a purple-ish effect that looks nothing like this.

    What it seems pretty much guaranteed is a shield regen/strengthen ability from a passive and no "disable visuals" is gonna get rid of it.

    Which passive are you thinking? I posted my current traits and non seem to do that effect. I'm still thinking the secondary deflector but I have not had a chance to test it. I will tomorrow if I have some time. Thanks

    It was the secondary deflector that was causing the effect. I guess each secondary deflector has a visual effect. Resonating Secondary Deflectors have that shield effect and Inhibiting Secondary Deflectors (the other one I tested) has a kind of blue radius effect. I'm not sure what effect the other one has.
