I hope it's the Armstrong, I have an Infinity Promo prize pack all saved up for that one!
What I'm afraid it might be is the California class since I expect that to eventually be a promo ship even though it absolutely should NOT be (that one belongs in the C-Store, period). I really REALLY hope I'm wrong about that because I know there's gonna be a lot of unhappy people if that ship DOES go into a promo box.
Dang it, I was hoping the Dil->Zen exchange to keep occasionally poking into the Buy screen now and then, but alas, not to be. It will probably go back to hundreds of thousands in Zen backlog at 500 on the Sell screen once the Vanity Shields stop being available and this new Promo ship comes out.

Yeah. At this point we pretty much have to realize that any new ship that appears in any new show is probably going in a box. And that "probably" goes to "absolute certainty" if the ship in question happens to be the main/hero ship of the show.
One cool detail Thomas gave during the stream: for this ship they actually took the model CBS used in the show, decreased the poly count, and then made some tweaks necessary for the game engine. So it's pretty much as screen accurate as you can possibly get! For those that don't know they don't normally build ships this way, usually they use the CBS model as a reference and rebuild it from scratch.
I don't care that it's in a box, it's freaking ugly anyway. I mean, why do they keep designing ships with gigantic holes and gaps in them? It's ridiculously impractical.
Besides, come February I'll be unable to play anyway, since I don't use Windows 10.
I think it's one of the best looking ships I have seen yet, it looks fantastic.
It's stats and other factors will determine if I am going to bankrupt my EC holdings to pick one up.. but given that I don't play much anymore, the EC isn't being used anyway.. so might as well.
We shall see, but aesthetically, I really like it, far superior to it's butt ugly original design.
It is a pretty design and I do like it from a purely visual standpoint, but for something like a broach rather than a starship. It is totally impractical which goes against the grain for the the analytical part of me, way past the suspension of disbelief maximum threshold.
What do you want an old Soviet submarine for? (just kidding)
Well, if it and a Newcler Wessel, the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Enterprise were attached to a Super Dimensional Fortress (S.D.F.), then I'll be all for it
Of all the 32c federation ships, this is probably the one I find the least offensive. Not surprised it's locked behind the promo garbage.
Maybe it'll be good, maybe it won't be. I'm not really interested in wasting my resources on a one-off ship at this point. The irony of having all these recruiting events is that I'm far less interested in single-character ships(I presume part of the scheme behind it was to drive more single-character purchases).
I wonder how long the Federation is going to stick with the 32 century design philosophy of "it has serious design flaws, must be user operator problems".
Reminds me of the historical Mark 14 fiasco during WW2.
For me, all the 32nd century ships in Star Trek have one big issue: the texture and color of the hull.
It's like someone in charge at Starfleet looked at a Captain Proton episode and went "That color! I want it on all our ships from now on!" with nobody telling them "Uh, sir, the show was in black and white and the "color" worked because the rocket ship was retro as hell.".
When a ship uses floating things and a matter than can shape the way you want, the last thing I want to see of it is a plain, ugly, uninspired grey color.
It should be USS KHAAAAAAAAAAN! They put the H in the wrong place.
It's KAAAAAAAAHN!

"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
I don't hate the design. Unlike most of the 32nd c. ships, at least it has a starfleet-ish shape. That said, I don't really "like" it either. And as I have said before, I always prefer the ships they put in gamble boxes to be ones I don't want

Well for one, I suspect that whoever is in charge of designing/approving ships for DSC really likes ships with holes in them (the Crossfield class had the ring shaped saucer from the beginning). But, more than that, it's an easy way to visually indicate technological progress. Having holes in the saucer, spars arcing away from the hull, flying buttresses, they're all quick ways to show that materials science and engineering have progressed since the TNG era. The Starfleet of the 32nd century, even as hobbled as it is, has reached a technological stage where form no longer needs to follow function and ship designs can be almost purely aesthetic (ugly aesthetics, but aesthetics none the less).

Agreed on all counts. It's not the ugliest ship from DSC, and at least it looks like a Starfleet ship. Being a promo ship, I'm just going to ignore it completely.

It sucks, but it's just how it is now.

Or the next Mirror skin unlock ship. The Miranda one because we didn't have enough Miranda variants already.

To those who do like them, enjoy! I understand many younger players think TOS ships look stupid, to each their own.
