Deep Space 9 is blacked out

vorwodavorwoda Member Posts: 698 Arc User
This began for me two weeks ago. The interior of Deep Space 9 is blacked out, like they are experiencing a station-wide power failure. No other location (ESD, New Romulus, Qo'noS, mission maps, etc.) are affected, and there have been no changes to my system or settings. It is just that one map that is borked. My video card is old enough that I can't run Lighting 2.0, but that has never been an issue previously, and as I say, even DS9 was fine till 2 weeks ago.

My processor and GPU:
Pentium Dual-Core CPU ES800@3.20 GHz
NVidia GeForce 9600 GT

Did the Devs JUST make an undocumented lighting change to that map? Because it seems like the ambient lighting has been turned off, but only on that one map.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is your graphics driver up to date. Have you tried tinkering around with graphics settings. Or it might be a case your graphics card is no longer supported as I have no issues. Try force verifying.

You may have adjusted your bloom settings. For some reason DS9 likes the bloom levels all the way up—otherwise it looks like a closet without lighting 2.0

All systems go, Eazzie. But thanks!

Qultuq, that was it. I always keep Bloom at minimum, but it got switched off completely somehow. Keeping it on, but at intensity 0 works fine. Reflections on Qo'noS are ugly now, so switched them off, but oh, well. At least I can SEE everywhere!

    Many thanks to you both!

It goes away if you turn lighting 2.0 on. With lighting 2.0 off the darkness can even follow you off the station onto other maps for a few seconds.

Same problem here... This have to be fixed... My computer is old, and I have to play with Lighting 2.0 disabled. And Deep Space 9 stay all dark. :(

You dont need to put 2.0 on, took me awile to get it right but either having bloom quality on and or postprosessing on will make it light enough.

I find it dsnt always ujust unless you switch make/go to char selest screen then back.

I dont use 2.0 either though not a grephics card issue more it gives me a friging migrane even after a short wile.

Also since they revamped the kling stuff gateway to gre'thor is way to dark as well even on 2.0 its anoting so tend to not do that pve anymore.

and it is also anoying that it tends to switch to 2.0 if you change things even chat settings.

    hope this helps
