So I purchased 100 large ground shields for my captain and bridge officers. But after a short time I noticed they were all gone. I could not figure out why they kept running out. Then I noticed something. Despite having it set not to use the Shield device until I'm down to 25% The game was using the shield device instantly and for no reason. As soon as I go into combat even if i don't get hit I get a message saying I have used a Large Shield. I've tested it several times and during this weekends DoFF even to pick up those particles, when the enemy appears I instantly use a shield boost, often before the enemy has even spawned in.
The same thing is happening on ships too, setting a device to activate 10sec, 20sec after combat starts or when offline makes no difference, they devices are used instantly, like Shield batteries, and Voth core.
This is costing me a fortune in buying those large Ground Shields and they are being swallowed up like a bag of M&M's while watching a movie. It's also a contributing factor in have the battle and advanced cloak breaking for ship items, when they activate as you go into cloak.
the ground battle in the defera invasion zone is a perfect spot for seeing it happen. You hit the borg ground unit with melee, your shields are still at 100% and then use you a shield device and you haven't even been hit yet.
