Klingon Recruit No Longer Recording Melee and Ambush Kills

My Klingon recruit, despite much glorious battle, has stalled in his count of melee (529 and holding) and ambush (402 and holding) kills. I know for certain that I have fulfilled the requirements to increase the count of each, and I would have thought that after several hours of playing today that I would have at least logged 1 if I was somehow doing it improperly now after racking up so many at first. What could the problem be? If it's a glitch, I've not encountered anyone else having this problem. Is there some kind of daily kill count cap that we weren't told of?
