    Some might look at it the way SWTOR works: People can use the real money currency in that to buy items from the in-game store and auction them for the in-game currency. The main difference is that probably 90% of what's on SWTOR's store is cosmetic, whereas ships, especially ships on the store, tend to be a hell of a lot more than "cosmetic". (Depending on who you ask.)
