Intended or bug?

so i decided i needed a big scaly science officer to follow me around buffing and healing me. he's chewy to my solo.

i bought a purple (very rare) gorn science officer off the exchange, but when i added him to my crew, he changed from purple to blue (rare) i thought i had made a mistake and bought the wrong boff from the exchange, so i bought another one (gorn science officers aren't very expensive) and the exact same thing happened. i added the purple gorn science officer to my crew and he became blue level.

can gorn not be purple science officers, or is this a bug?

    I have to agree. If you bought one that was VR Purple, and it turned into a Rare Blue... something is off.

    It happens with all Gorn boffs - when bring them to crew they become blue. Happens to Letheans that do have a space skill too. Its something I reported close to 3 years ago and considering I didnt get an answer nor we got a fix, it may be that they want them like that

    follow up question:

    did anything else change about the boff other than its rarity? did skills change or anything?

    It is a bug, but it's nothing to worry about. Rarity doesn't affect their stats, only certain inherent traits which maybe available, but again, that's nothing to worry about.

    Its just the get into service with less superior type skills - and that is what governs the final quality

    it bothers my ocd not having all purple boffs!

    but if its a bug and its not a big deal, i can try to live with it.

    One of the best boffs for dps, is the blue quality romulan from embassy fleet holding

    its purple rarity misses the good space traits

    More fully, a VR boff has two Superior traits, while a Rare boff only has one superior trait. with all Gorn (and Efficient Saurians and Lethans) they only have one Superior trait, so the game converts them to Rare.

    The Romulan Embassy Boff is bought as a Blue but in your crew is Purple as he does have two Superior.
