What should I spend these on?

I want to figure out what to spend my coupons and currency on. I have a T6 Discount Coupon (account bound), 1000 Lobi from the Event Campaign, and a T5 Infinity Prize Pack. The lobi I may spend it on a console as well as a ship; the T5 I might check out the highest priced ship on the Exchange and sell it for a similar price if I don't find a ship I want to fly. I plan to spread out redemption not all at once.

I have a Federation science, KDF tactical, and Romulan Republic engineer captain (all level 65). Only play PvE, usually episode missions or TFOs. What ships do you like to use?

Honestly that sounds like a pretty well rounded plan.
I'm guessing the T5 is the old big prize ships. If it included mirror ships, I'd probably suggest picking one of those, especially KDF side. If not for the hull material on a T6 version, then for an Admiralty Card. Otherwise I would do the same as you. Sell the most expensive one for ECs and save for something else.

Lobi... Could also get a T6 ship. Either one you want or one that is worth a lot. Although Fed side I believe the T6 Walker is Lobi, and a pretty well balanced cruiser. The T6 NX isn't a bad escort either. I'd say research the options before pricing IMO.

    Ultimately... the choice is yours.

The T6 discount coupon - I would advise getting a Romulan ship, as they are "factionless" and could be flown by all of your characters. The Morrigu if you don't already have it (for its starship trait, Emergency Weapon Cycle), but if you do... there are other less useful options.

The T5 Infinity I would probably try to sell; if you do use it for yourself, I would avoid mirror ships as they are not eligible for T5U upgrades.

T5 ships aren't going to be worth much. I don't think there is much advice to give there.

The Morrigu is a very good choice for a T6 coupon though for the trait. It is a good ship in itself as well, of course.

The Lobi is a hard choice to make because they only unlock on a single character, so you have the ship, trait, and possibly console as independent reasons to get a ship. Which of those matter most to you is totally on you.

Personally when I get a boxed ship, I want to fly it because its a huge single character investment, so that means I need to like the look of it, and it needs to fit a character concept to some degree. I also prefer to make those single character ships use the trait and console they have because I can't use them on any other character, so I want to get the most out of them.

Only my opinion, but those T5 ship boobyprize boxes should be removed from the drop list.

The feeling one gets when these boxes drops is the epitome of disappointment - a very brief moment of "YESSSS!" before the horrible, painful, realisation that its a T5 ship box.

I'd prefer they (re-)added ships to them.

I never really understood why they felt the need to remove the Xindi, Undine and Voth ships for example. Ok, maybe to increase selling potential of the new T6's. But these ships are already rather old now (except for the Undine perhaps).

Players who want a T6 Briostrys, will try to get that anyway. Players who aren't that interested in that ship and are satisfied with a T5 Narcine, would likely not try to get the Briostrys anyway.

They could even add some of the T5 ships from the C-store. Or at least create a way to upgrade the T5 ships that are in there, to T6. If I wanted a T6 Sovereign, but only on one character, being able to a T5 one through a box and then upgrading it would seem reasonable in terms of costs. Especially since the T5 boxed ones will likely increase in value after such a change - which is very much needed imo.

It depends on what ship you prefer of course.

Personally, the only ships I find really interesting from the lobi store are the Kelvin Vengeance and the NX class.

Well, the T5U upgrade does give some (not all) of the benefits of T6, and all (I think) T5's get that except the mirror universe ships.

There's a Lobi Store Sale going on right now at 20% off and they have added (for the time of this Sale) the Tzen-tar, Jem'Hadar Strike Ship, and Plain and Simple Bundle.

I think you mean Plain and Simple Bundle. Could also just shorthand it to the Garak bundle I guess.
Humble would probably be more associated with another site that sometimes has things for STO.

    Corrected, thanks.

The only T5 Ship that is a free Upgrade Fleet Grade T5U still in the T5 Box is the Hirogen.

Odds are the Hirogen one will be retired when the T6 comes out. Honestly I don't really mind the old T5 lockbox ships being retired in favor of the T6s because the T6s not only come with specialist seating and a trait, their consoles are improved versions that come with stats as well as clicky, and the T6 comes with the T5 variant model. *shrug*
But that is just my opinion.

True, but it does make the T5 boxes kind of useless.

They need to do something to make them more valuable and interesting again.

Not necessarily, if they keep the box-upgraded ones character-bound, like all other lock box and lobi ships. The C-store ones would then keep the added benefit of being account unlocks.

If you meant this as a reply to my mentions of T5U upgrades... I didn't specify "free". If you include ships with paid upgrades, I believe all of the prize-box T5s are eligible except the mirror universe ships. (I was flying a Mirror Recon Science on one of my alts when T5U became a thing, and it was not even able to be T5U.)

IIRC, the t5 infinity box will let you get the T5Bug that in itself is a good little ship still, and with the lobi get the t6 Jemnaught carrier, and the bug unlocks the hangar. of course thats only for one toon, but I love flying the T5 jemnaught with bugs

At least this narrows things down, thanks westmetals. So the MU ships are the only T5s that can't be upgraded. I may or may not use the T5 on my Fed science ... the avatar is my least favorite because I think it's weakest.

The Kelvin Vengeance (if it's remotely like what we see in the movie) is badass but the Fed is the only one I'd use it on.

The Morrigu would be a good choice for my Rom, thanks. The Lobi ships might be an option for my KDF, have to look into ones that have good firepower but not slow like the huge Breen carrier and cruiser and the Fek'hiri carrier in its shipyard.

The post Delta Rising T5s (APU, Malon, etc.) are upgradeable via the Upgrade Token, but will only go to 10 Consoles. The point I was making was that the Hirogen was Fleet Grade (11 Consoles after T5U Upgrade) and in addition was a free T5U upgrade. It was not in reply to your post but just to the the overall Thread.

Jem'Hadar escort, the ship that used to be considered as being the most powerful one in the game.

I don't think it's actually contained in the T5 package this thread is about though. I think people are confusing the T5 lock box package with the Phoenix package here.

The T5 Jem'Hadar Attack Ship is availible in the Phoenix Store for a UR Token (in other words rarer than a Lockbox Ship chance :) ).

yeah the T5 Jem'Hadar Attack Ship (commonly called the "bug ship") is the canon Jem'Hadar vessel from DS9... the Recon and Strike are the T6 versions of it. It was one of the very first "special-access" ships... way back when lockboxes and promos and stuff first came out... like 2013-ish?

Stats wise it is similar to the T5U escort that the Jem'Hadar players start with, but that ship is not cosmetically compatible.
