As everyone knows, trying to donate refined dilithium to fleet projects is a chore in itself, especially with the daily refining limit of 8k ore. Why can't we donate unrefined dilithium ore instead? I have a ton of ore that's going to take forever to refine.

Probably not gonna happen. It would be like using crude oil as a substitute for refined gasoline.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

It being a pain is the point. The only easy ways around it are to have/be a whale in your fleet and buy a bunch of Dil with Zen or get a bunch of mining claims from opening lockboxes and crunch them down into Fleet Dilithium. Either of those two makes Cryptic money.
Less easy and takes 10 days at minimum is to do the Tour of Duty for the Klingon Admiralty Campaign, which gives a small pile of Fleet-only Dil. Cycling that well (~10 days consistently) either means spending a decent amount of money on ships to have a decent roster or sticking around long enough to grind out multiple ships (Whether Dil -> Zen, EC or via Events.) Both of those benefit Cryptic, cash in hand for Zen for the former, or metric padding and keeping whales company for the later.

Not the only way. You can also float refined dil from one character to another, so a player with a lot of characters - even if only one of them is in the fleet - can generate a lot of dil for free. For example if someone has 10 characters, they can refine a total of over half a million dil per week....
Yes, kinda true, but it's a lot of work, it's the only reason why i have a personal fleet, 24 chars and growing!... eh!
