Jem Hadar Faction Selection Screen Not Displaying

I created a new Jem Hadar, played through the intro and the following mission, but the mission would not complete because the faction selection screen would not display and allow a selection. Any attempt at a workaround would simply restart the mission. The faction selection screen blinks on for a second, then disappears.
