Just cruising the net and something caught my eye. Let's take a look at something. The UFP symbol and the U.S. Space Force Symbol.

Now with that. We take the Space Force symbol and an upside down Pontiac symbol and...

Pontiac, crusiing the galaxy since 1965.

Just thought I'd share.

This is more of a Ten Forward post and does not really belong in Star Trek Online General Discussion. @darkbladejk @wingedhussar#7584 Please move to Ten Forward. Thanks. :)

The Starfleet triangle delta we know today was actually inspired by the Air Force logos used going back to 1961 before Star Trek even aired. I think it's cool that the delta is continuing to see use, but the military had this one on lockdown first.

I know it is a military symbol. But, the closeness of it all to the Pontiac emblem, which was founded in 1926, is a bit more uncanny than it probably should be. Granted, not that I'm going to complain, since I have a Bonneville sitting in my yard.

It actually goes back a little further than that, to the Googie style which started in the 1950s (though it hit peak in the early 1960s) which Jeffries used to design the ship and some other things in the show. The asymmetric arrow is a standard of that style, as is the "boomerang" arrow painted on the secondary hull that was the Starfleet identifier at the time.
