"Crystalline Spike" module only works in FPS mode, sometimes.

The Crystalline Spike kit module doesn't work in RPG control mode, and only sometimes in FPS mode. Pressing the hotkey in RPG mode just starts the cooldown timer, nothing happens. In FPS mode, the grenade throw animation will play, but whether or not anything happens after is random.
