Any news on when summer event is coming

any ideas when summer event is happening not many summer months left summer event would be here by now i know we had to choose ship for it but been quiet since unless i missed something

    I think they mean, the Risian Summer Event. It does seem a little late with the current event lasting 3 weeks now. With the Winter Event being shortened this year, I'm going to guess that the Summer Event will be a slightly shorter version as well. Hopefully it kicks off around the 4th long weekend.

    Summer hasn't even started yet! :lol: It'll be July most likely, but until they officially announce the date, no-one knows.

    I think we can guess that it will be June 25th. Since it is much later this year I wonder too if it will be shorter. I guess their metrics show that there are less logins during the last 2 weeks of the old summer and winter events, so they want to replace these with forced login events.

    Yeah - I can't muster any excitement for the summer event myself. They haven't added any new minigames to it for several years, and I suspect that, rather than new swimwear, we'll get more Baseball themed dross instead.
    Maybe we'll get Picard and Rios' pimp outfits from when they visited Nar Shaddaa, I mean Freecloud.

    yeah, it's interesting - they have moved it later the past 2 years. I forgot and thought it was just last year:

    June 5 - July 17, 2014
    June 4 - July 16, 2015
    June 9 - July 21, 2016
    June 8 - July 20, 2017
    July 3 - August 16, 2018
    July 2 - August 15, 2019

    We shall see if it's still close to 6 weeks. I don't have a strong guess about that. Could there also be a week off from the 25th to the 2nd??

    That explains rather well. I started this game in early Spring last year, so to me, I was already not expecting it until July. Which made me kinda go "huh?" when people asked on forum and in game about it not starting in June.
    Call me "El," she/her only. I love my wife and I don't care who knows it!

    Let's not forget that the summer event last year was the last one to use the event reputation. They might have needed time to figure out what stuff they want to include in order to provide alternative means besides flying high to give credit for the event system. Remember, we have the following activities that happen during summer:

    - Flying High (Original means of getting the summer ship progess)
    - Dance Party
    - Powerboard Race
    - Biathalon
    - Horga'hn hunt
    - Artifact Scavenger Hunt (I'm not sure if this one will be included as its not my particular favorite plus it can be confusing where to go)

    I'd say a lot of people might enjoy the Dance Party or Powerboard Race as something fun to mix the ship progress collection up.

    Uhm... I actually like the summer event. IMO best summer seasonal in all MMOs I encountered. Just the thought of it getting even more on-the-clock with some events I do like; maybe even getting worse timers like the last time they added a new mini (yeay! :) ) but squeezed a clock on it (nay! :( ). I mean yeah, the race or the dance instructor makes perfectly sense to be on a clock. But stuff like the statue hunt or the lets-pretend-to-be-archeologist game could be on individual character cooldowns.

    Additional benefit: would open up timers for some new additional team game.

    So no; I'm still excited for it. But I do fear they will nuke the fun with (more) time-gate stuff.

    Yeah, the only thing that's disappointed me about the Summer event the last 2-3 years, is the outfits. So I ended up doing less activities, because I didn't need to refill my stash of Favors that I didn't spend.


    (if they can't think of new swimwear, the original ones could use a "T6 upgrade" quality pass; or there's still plenty of silly TOS Theiss outfits that would fit for Risa/Shore leave. :D )

    I went there today and completed the Master Relaxer Accolade on one of my Characters. Nice doing something different after doing Endeavors and the Event.

    Ah, didn’t know this. Thought that whatever it was, was only going to be accessible during the event like the winter one.

    Risa is just as big a grind as any other Event ingame. Not fond of the baseball themed stuff, either. Some of the items in the Summer Event Store are okay. But compared to the items for sale in QWW, they seem overpriced. Further, it may not be so, but to me it appears to be more difficult to acquire lohlunat favors on Risa than it does the trinkets in QWW.

    Hmm. I guess I just ended up swimming in Favors because, in the early years, I was farming the Horgahn Hunt for eggs, to turn into birds, to turn into rep marks on my lower-tier alts.

    Once you get going (have several characters equipped with fast flyers), you can rake in 500 favors in a single Hunt period. (Meanwhile, the events in Winter don't seem to give many ornaments per event period, so I just run the doff missions on a bunch of characters. Still ended up with 2-3 stacks of each ornament eventually, though.)

    tl;dr - nothing seems that expensive in either season. o:)

    Summer is worse. They charge higher costs for successive Ranks of Bridge Officer Training Manuals. Winter is consistent cost per Rank.

      Risa has been known to attract a group of "Characters' that wear cheap EV Suits.

      Who knows with this crowd, we could end up seeing folks in Bikinis sporting a Breen Helmet. :)

      Winter Wonderland was 4 weeks. Risa will almost certainly be 4 weeks. It's the way of things now with the new structure for event ships.

      I sure hope that Scavenger Hunt is an option. It's one of 2 activities that can be started at any time, along with Castles in the Sand, and those both take the same or less time than an average Flying High for me. If you want to wait for a race to start, those can also take less time, though they can be failed, making you have to wait for the next one, but waiting for a Dance Party to start and then having to dance for 10 minutes to complete your daily ship progress sounds about as terrible to me as the Scavenger Hunt probably does to you.

      Summer is worse for everything because Favors are handed out on a much stingier scale than Winter Wonderland goodies, as well as for the reason that you stated here specifically for manuals. It's fun, but the grind just wears on me. I have essentially given up on the manuals, since I would never be able to catch up on them all, especially if we now only have 4 weeks to collect Favors, rather than 6 weeks.
      This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
