    You can choose to play a healer. It's easier for ground stuff. I have a ground healer. I also have made a space tank that heals their allies too. Most people in space don't pay attention and worry about healing themselves and don't expect others to heal them, so it's tricky to do.

    True. Also, because of the endeavour system, you could actually be hindering other people trying to get some healing done, for example.

    By the way, DPS is actually a big problem to some.
    How fun is this: enter zone, FaW, FaW, all dead, mission ends.

    God...
    Once again, that's because there's way too much content that doesn't require anything else.
    And even if the devs could actually find a way to hard-cap DPS, which is not as easy or as straigthforward as you say, DPS is not the problem. The lack of anything requiring tactics (and teamwork) is.

    Not agreeing with someone doesn't give you the right to be an TRIBBLE.

    Ci sono tre tipi di giocatori:
    - quelli a cui non va mai bene niente... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che sono talmente imbesuiti da credere a qualunque cosa i dev dicano, perfino che la luna è fatta di formaggio... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che credono a quello a cui è giusto credere, sono d'accordo con quello con cui è giusto essere d'accordo e sono critici con quello che non va;

    Ai giocatori dei primi due tipi, gratis in omaggio un bello specchio lucente su cui arrampicarsi. E una mazzata in testa per la loro poca intelligenza e compassione verso gli altri giocatori che non la pensano come loro.
    Agli appartenenti al terzo tipo, invece, dico grazie. Anche se non sempre si riesce a mantenere la calma, siete quelli per cui vale la pena incazzarsi.

    I agree, 100%.
    And it is caused by... what?

    (Altering end damage value... I believe this is about...)
    ...which is not as easy or as straightforward as you say
    Well, funny enough, it actually is...
    The end output value of damage is 1 value at 1 address.
    Now some games use multiple addresses for this, to prevent a few mechanics to cheat.
    These different addresses compare to one another, and external altered addresses (the cheat thus) is hopefully detected and can be undone.

    Again though, I replied to a question: how can DPS be lowered/controlled.
    I did not say nor imply it SHOULD be used.
    On the other side, a lower post, I did say that DPS, IMHO, is largely to blame.
    The lack of tactics is no longer required, as per what you said.
    True...
    Why need any form of support if you can blast anything out of the way?

    The problems with the whole DPS mentality are the two extremes:
    - that it leads to a belief that record-chasing is a good and necessary thing, and the attitude that if you are not doing this that you're dumb, stupid, wasting your time, etcetera.
    - that there ARE a large number of players out there who don't know how to design their builds effectively enough to even hit that minimal level I mentioned earlier.
    Even in this very thread people basically say: there's only DPS.
    "Don't touch my DPS" just is that statement.
    And sadly, the game did evolve to this...
    Naturally, you can up the stakes by slapping on even more armour on enemy NPC,s adding even MORE life value, but this would TRIBBLE over those that for whatever reason just cannot compete.
    NO, not me, I CAN compete.
    Why folks keep saying this about me I do not know... it is incorrectly assumed and/or insinuated.

    I do not believe there is such a thing as a PERFECT solution, either way, someone will get 'butt-hurt' one way or another.
    So yeah... it is a problem that reaches further than just the game.

    First and foremost question should be: is the player willing to give up whatever needed in order to benefit the greater good, SHOULD it come to that?
    I most definitely am, for sure...
    How about the other players?

    They just get less sober.

    HEY! You trying to get ANOTHER thread closed over this?!

    Dude... let it drop ok?

    As for the FAW spam, that is the current Meta. There was a time when Cannons were king, and people called STO Escorts Online because Escorts could be made to be godly. Then the Romulans came out, and the Meta changed, meaning role a Tac Romulan with all Superior Romulan Operative BOffs if you want max DPS potential.

    Metas change from time to time.

    since the question has been answered and the thread is devolving into the classic "DPS is everything" vs "there's too much DPS" stuff /closed.
