It’s been my experience that pets with torps. Suck. They don’t know how to wait for shields to drop on targets. I don’t fly a lot of carriers, but I do like how my light carriers fly and use it for endeavors. One work around I found was to equip my ship with tet’s to drain the targets shields so my pets can be as stupid as they want. I had the upgrades this morning and upgraded 2 consoles so now they have a +20 and+32 tet damage bonus. I also upgraded my dual cannons and turrets. The weakest cannon now does 777 damage and the weakest turrets does 255 damage.
When I took the ship out to arrest a ferringi my mouth fell open. The ship nukes everything and most of my pets lived without needing to be relaunched. I was impressed. Looking forward to taking the ship on some TFOs this weekend.
I’m just wondering if the massive increase in dps was due the upgrades or changing the antiprotons to tets.

Pets are quite effective if enemies have low shields, if you see the JH attack ships, they are great pets, and their polarons do a lot of shield damage, also the Flyers do a great job too

Tet is in a good spot right now as far as damage. However, if you're using AP pets, with a Tet setup, you're kind of shooting yourself in the foot there. I'd swap out to the tholian fighters to match up the energy type. They get the same boost from your consoles and such as you do.
Then add in some Drain skill and/or gear that increases drain, this will increase the shield drain. This also works with the Polaron subsystem drain.
Then it's just a matter of deciding which Tet weapons to use, Resonating, Piercing, and all the various other choices.

I did not know pets used the same mod bonus. I’ll be swapping those out now. Thanks
Well, OK, but realistically is it even possible to drain NPC's in the game?
PvP has been unsupported since 2013. So, where else would you use it, if not on NPCs. IT does work, but you're also having to keep in mind that Cryptic's idea of making NPCs more difficult, is upping their damage, health, shields and resistances. So you have to keep that in mind.

No worries. I didn't learn that until a friend told me when I started toying around with carrier ideas on one of my alts.

Pets do not benefit from damage boosting consoles on your ship. They only benefit from things that boost team damage or specifically say they boost pets, but things like Consoles that boost your damage type will not boost them for your pets.

I have a sci Rom that fly’s a plasma build with the full Bajor set. Most consoles are helping exotic damage, but since it is a space magic torp build I also have a couple consoles that boost plasma torps. The pets are Scorpions. Would those consoles help the scorpions torps?

No, they would not.
There is no way to directly buff the energy weapon damage of your pets. There are however, a few traits and things that can help them or grant them extra abilities. One example of this would be the starship trait Superior Area Denial. This trait clearly lists in it's description that it gives a buff to Pets. Another example would be the trait Insult to Injury that grants bonus abilities to pets.
Anything that boosts team damage will also effect your pets. One example is your Tactical Ultimate skill Focused Frenzy. This ability Under Enhancers, where it says " Team Frenzy: Allies firing on marked foe also gain Frenzy stacks and enhancers" Pets would benefit from that.
Your pets, while nice.. are a complimentary ability. Any consoles or equipment you have equipped should be directly benefiting your ship. Your pets will benefit more from making yourself stronger then they will from anything else.

Traits that bestow buffs to pets when you use abilities are pretty handy. The main two I can think of is Coordinated Assault and Superior Area Denial.
Also if you feel that pets using Torps is not good, there are pets that don't have torps. Class C shuttles only have beam arrays for example.
Honestly pets using torps whenever never bothered me. Hell... my Elite Xindi-Primate Heavies firing Torp Spread 3s is pretty entertaining when I got 8 out on my old T5U Aquatic Carrier.

This is not true. Hangar pets do not inherit any of your boosts unless they specifically say they benefit hangar pets. The only thing that applies to them that doesn't explicitly say it does is Omega Kinetic Shearing, which seems to trigger from pet torpedoes as well as your own (which makes Elite Scorpions quite effective even against shields).
Not true. GW and other anomalies are pets...and EPG consoles boost their damage. Yeah I know...not what you meant
Only because cryptic's design has, since City of Heroes, involved attaching powers and effects to an entity.. and when it won't be emanating from the player or the enemy, it has to be attached to a "pet" that is invisible and typically untargetable and unkillable. Those EPG consoles won't do squat for hangar pets even if they use exotic abilities.
The 3 coordination protocol skill points in your skill tree help both your pets and your team mates.
The best boosts for pets are the Swarmer Matrix console and Scramble Fighters starship trait, assuming you have a reasonable relaunch cooldown. If your pets use beams then the Superior Area Denial starship trait is a thing of beauty... mixing it with the Elite Tactical Flyers from the Discovery Constitution will bring tears to a carrier captain's eyes.
To answer the original idea, Tetryons are terrible by themselves as shield drains. You can do a useful shield or power drain build with science ships, and even escorts that put some focus on drain can find value in adding a tachyon beam to their rotation, but dropping shields for your pets isn't really going to help a whole lot in itself.

Yea... ultimately tryig to use standard Tet proc... you're more likely to just outright kill the enemy ship than make use of the Tet proc. While yes in theory Tetryon would bring the shields down faster than, say... phasers or Polaron, trying to use a proc like that to help hanger pets...
I honestly don't have a problem with hanger pets with Torps myself. Its the ones that run cannons that are dumb. Even frigate pets that run cannons. They spend most of their time broadsiding with turrets rather thanactually using cannons. Which is why I generally use beam pets.
