If i use the trait and un-equip the shield, does that mean i have an all-time +100% bonus damage?
For that i would gladly throw my shield intp the trash
I was wondering about that also. However, when I take my shield off (usually for hull heal endeavor), I seem to take more damage than when shields are down...I think if you unequip the shield you may lose the shield hardness bonus, which in my case is over 20% damage reduction. If so then might be better to just have a low level shield plus minimum power assigned to shield.
Also, although the writeup on the new ship mentioned that you do more damage the lower your shields are, I did not see it mentioned anywhere that the damage can scale all the way up to 100%. It could scale between 0 and 25% damage bonus for example.
Why do people say the stats on this ship is bad? It's a 5/3 ship with LTC tac and LTC sci with two uni slots to make it really flexible in build. Turn rate is on the low end...but you can do so much with this ship's stats. And that trait can be the valdore console on crack on pretty much all the content in this game with swarms of tiny ships to blow up. Yeah yeah, no MW or intel slots either...but really, are we at a point where if a ship doesn't have either of those specialty, it becomes garbage? You really can't make a unique and interesting build without those? I mean yeah if you wanna eak out every last bit of DPS, this ship ain't it...but that will apply to pretty all the ships in the game that isn't at the top. It may not be top tier stats...but garbage stats? I think not.
That said...oh dear god is this thing ugly. I'm not sure I can use this ship long enough to even unlock the trait.
Man... finally, an injection of common sense.
I'm not crazy about Command either, but I can work with it. Plus, I get it.. you don't give the best stuff on free event ships, cool.
Other then the fact that I'm just neutral on the looks of it, I totally agree with all of this.
The ship does not have bad stats, not at all. They aren't going to match a Promo Ship, but they're certainly not bad.
It's not bad. Kinda a starfleetizied K'tinga, the round head being both a saucer and D7 ref. I like the idea behind it, though I always hoped to see Deferi using those combined designs as both major powers rebuilt their world.
What I'm not yet sold on are Antiproton weapons. I hope they make some new visuals and special alliance antiproton weapons, because stock AP is ugly. And I like blue beams.

I don't really get the complaints about the appearance. I mean, y'all seem to love those ungainly asymmetric office blocks the Breen build - compared to those, this thing's a spacegoing Marilyn Monroe!
As for weapons, install what you like. You don't have to equip AP just because it comes with AP, you know.
I see the hate for anything remotely Klingon has not died out lol. I think it looks awesome just could use something that looks more Klingon for the head/saucer piece. I also assume this is probably the same way though that we will ever see a T5 or T6 Hegh'ta in the game though never got that heavy bop. In a way its saying you want a connie? you want a D7? Have both in one! Just my opinion but the ship would be absolutely perfect if they took the vorcha or negh'var head piece and then something in between that voyager and excelsior deflector so it would still look like its tech from both.
It has nothing to do with hating Klingon designs. I actually like them. Nor with the Breen designs, which are ugly, but they are Breen and consistent. This is a kitbash, without any saving grace from aesthetic point of view.
I would have preferd a pure Klingon ship any day.

I'd rather if the ltcom boff seat was universal/command instead of science/command, I'd still use it over the Paladin even though I think that one looks miles better.
I've seen and flown some pretty ugly ships, but I haven't seen anything more hideous than the toilet brush ships.
This new one doesn't even come close. I actually kind of like it.
I've eventually gotten used to the science variant after flying it on a bunch of characters for the gravity well trait. The Dandruff Drive impulse engines look nice in action - https://sto.gamepedia.com/Dewan_Ikkabar_Pilot_Escort
I think the anniversary ship visual design is fine. The stats are good too, especially for a free ship.
That one isn't bad, still uglier than this one. I'd fly it for that trait.

I fly the Rezreth, Chel Boalg and the Chel Grett. They're uglier than this ship, but they do destroy things. I'm really quite fond of my lobster (Rezreth) ship.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
I see some cool ideas in the design, like:
-the name in both English/Basic/whatever and Klingon. Best part for me. It's a very small detail, but considering the concept behind the ship, it's a significant one. J'Ula would probably roll on the floor frothing in impotent rage seeing this.
-the several runes/emblems over the ship
-the new hull material
-the various little features that make a good mix between Klingon and Fed aspects
-looking great in a few angles, usually 3/4th ones from above
But I feel there are significant misses, in my opinion:
-the deflector. Flat, uninspired, ugly compared to the recent ones, like the great Buran's
-the saucer. Too small and too fat. Squish it harder!
-the pylons. The angle is not obtuse enough. I think it'd have been better if it was like an overturned version of the Gagarin's.
-the geometry mix itself, which I think is a missed opportunity compared to all other possible more subtle ones. Here, it's clearly: front half=near 100% Fed, bottom half=near 100% Klingon, with only the hull material mixed correctly.
-not a single Romulan or Jem'Hadar influence. The latter can be excused due to the very recent inclusion of the Dominion in the Alliance, but the former further shows the Romulans keep getting progressively swept under the rug.
We got this instead of long overdue and requested ships like:
*T6 Federation Science Vessel (Nova/Aurora/Quasar/Rhode Island)
T6 Star Cruiser (Sentinel/Emissary/Vanguard/Nomad)
T6 Reconnaissance Science Vessel (Luna/Polaris/Sol/Comet)
T6 Deep Space Science (Trident/Oracle/Destiny/Nimbus)
T6 Research Science Vessel (Olympic/Hope/Horizon)
--- and this is just the Fed side, it does not count Klingon or Romulan ships
* won the requested ship poll

I hope i we will be able to customize rear part, otherwise it will stuck in admiralty only. Ugly hybrid. At least Feang have background for its look, this one is just a mess, like putting together Mercedes and Lada.

Maybe that's the part of the headcannon of Romulan technology on the inside

The link you provided clearly says the ship indeed has a Cloaking Device.
