Kind of ironic to see that many Borg haters in an STO genre MMO. Why the trolls? Heck I don't like the constellation ships from STO but I don't ask devs to put requests for those in FTCs and there were many? I'm actually happy devs evolved in their views and actually improved constellation ships for those who really want them . Yet, those so called Trek hard core gamers cannot take any hint of anything related to BORG? what are they doing here then? Let's tolerate diversity of what we like to see in this game please even if it's canon tiger-2.gif

You are so wrong here that you missed the bullseye and went into orbit. This is NOT hating on the Borg. This is discussing WHY the Collective CANNOT be a playable faction AAAAAAND even the Dev's have explained why. Simply put, and I repeat....once again, we cannot play as the Collective because they are controlled by the Hive Mind (The Queen's status is still debated but she is a part of that Hive). You WILL NOT have control over your own actions, you WILL NOT be able to make decisions, you WILL NOT even be able to decide even whether to wear your hair with a swish or a freakin bun! The Collective abhors ALL aspects of individuality and even her rusty Highness knows this after Locutus and Seven turning on her. As Dev's have said, the Collective is a no-no.

Now, what would be acceptable and has been hinted as a MAYBE, is a Co-operative mini-faction.......HOWEVER......the Dev's have to square that off against the Liberated Borg perk of the LTS, of which it is one of the MAIN draws. LTS does need a fresh injection and the Co=operative Mini-faction would add lots of value to LTS.

People are asking for this to be put into the FCT's simply because it makes an appearance every single month. It has nothing to do with hating the Borg, it's because the same arguments come out on top of the usual illogical reasoning for playing a member of a race that has no self-determination.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

    What?

Yeah, I mentioned FCTs. Only because players post this thing every few months, and we go through the same debate over and over. That, plus nothing will change until Cryptic finds the right match of time and mechanics to make it worthwhile. Cryptic is fully aware that players want it. But for whatever reason - maybe they just can't make it work right yet, maybe it doesn't fit with the plans, maybe CBS has been telling them not to especially with Picard featuring the Borg - it hasn't happened. It'll happen if/when it does.

But I'm not a Borg-hater. My main, in my sig below, is a Lib Borg. And she's been my main RP character for coming up on 5yrs (she replaced my first RP toon when that character's story closed nicely). How much the Borg destroyed her life is a big arc in playing her. Hell, I realized that playing her, walking her through her struggles, it helped me with my own.

Just because I'm disagreeing with the way folk are talking about it, doesn't mean I'm anti-Borg.

You mention "Kind of ironic to see that many Borg haters in an STO genre MMO." How about it's not all black and white, and that I can support something without these threads needing to happen regularly. Is that not Trek enough? Shades of gray?

It is not. And unfortunately, it won't be due to the fact that the devs have not definitively said no, and have stated that a Cooperative Faction is a possibility in future. Until that changes, one way or the other, it's not in the FCT.

If I remember correctly, one of the devs has said no Borg Collective faction years ago. So Borg Collective factions could be put in the FCT, but not Liberated Borg or Borg Cooperative factions provided that the post is found.

I can concur I've heard this in the past two months or so on the Livestream. I just can't quite remember which of two people it came from, Jeremy or someone else....not Kael. Hence my earlier comments.

Oh sure, make a playable borg factions an make the LTS even MORE meaningless...

Thay will sad to say from experience. I would like to have dev/Cryptic/PWE feedback on if they will add anything to LTS when they give away one of the only unique things about LTS to begin with.

and for whoever it was in the thread, tat says the majority of the players want it, NO you are 100% wrong the majority of the players do not want it. see how easy it is to say something definitively? if you are going to be arrogant and say "the majority" then back it up with a freaking poll at least. but all you have to do is search these threads and se how many people really do not want to see it another faction let alone BORG.

They Could do an actual borg faction in theory..

As it can be that Your actions as a borg drone are disguised as the queen's commands so story wise it's not hard.. no need to make it a movie, you just tell the player that what they are doing is actually what the queen is telling them to do with no real need to complicate or super limit the Borg-Borg Faction.

No, this idea has already been addressed by the Dev's. The Collective cannot happen, and this suggestion often makes the Dev's laugh because it is absurd. I refer you to my earlier comments on why.

Leem, the first thing you need to understand is that none of this is "real". Let me repeat that for you: Star Trek is not "real". It's make believe. IF you can actually accept that, we can move on to the next point:

Video games are usually NOT realistic. Even video games that are based on real life things (like historical wars) are usually not realistic and allow people to do things that are not realistically possible in the real world. In general the rule of games is fun > realism. IF you can actually accept that, we can move on to the next point:

This game is not even "realistic" with the context of the story it is SET in. If it were you wouldn't magically come back to life when you die and people wouldn't be flying around in Undine bioships or dressed like a Herald and "Q" wouldn't be hanging out in ESD every Christmas. This game already lets you do things that don't "make sense" within the context of the shows/movies for the sake of fun. IF you can accept that, we can move on to the next point:

It is completely possible to make a video game where people play as Borg. Why? Because "Borg" aren't real, and video games aren't realistic. So even if it might anger some hard core fanboys, it is entirely possible for a person sitting at a computer to control a single drone or a single Borg ship in a video game because none of this is real and it's a game being played for fun.

Having said all that, the devs of THIS game don't want to do make playable Borg(collective), and that's fine. It's their game, so they get to call the shots. But them CHOOSING not to do it does not mean it is IMPOSSIBLE to do. So stop falsely telling people that something is impossible and just tell them the truth, that the devs do not want to do it.
