So, after finishing the new event today after missing a couple of days here and there I would give it an overall grade of: C+.
What I like:
1. I like that I can make progress on any toon I choose to play. This allows me to complete the "featured episode" on all of my toons instead of having to complete on another toon and getting no progress.
2. I like that there are different choices for acquiring the event progress, the FIRST time on each character.
3. The addition of more dil as you continue to play after completion, qualified below in #1...
4. I like that event items have a buyout. I always run the events, but I am sure one day I am going to have a problem completing one so that is a nice addition.
What I don't like:
1. There is no large dil payout at the end. Sure I can get more by continuing to run the event which is nice (as stated above), but that should just be a bonus for continuing to pad Cryptic's metrics after I have gotten the grand prize. There should still be a nice dil payout upon completion. I understand that we get weapons and upgrades so if that is the reasoning this time then so be it, but I don't like it.
2. Even several options for repetitive content on several characters is... well, still repetitive content. The TFO should still reward all you need for the event in one run like it was previously. I shouldn't have to run the TFO twice to get the full 60. I am hoping that this is only because it was a ship (and not a weapon or gear) and that they don't decide to do this to the even more boring events for winter and summer... This is an obvious 'pad Cryptic's metrics' ploy.
3. Not being able to choose where the extra dil is claimed sucks, but that was addressed I think so, that shouldn't be a problem in later events.
I am sure I forgot something, but those are my biggest takeaways from this new event process. Anyone have any other thoughts on the new process?

It's like the Omega scanning (in 3 systems) for the anniversary event, rather than the ice race and floater race in Winter and Summer.
I agree it's too much grinding for one ground weapon or console unlock, but for a ship it's reasonable.

Well, not to be a party pooper, but there has never been a Dil payout with a ship event completion. So you can't really complain in this instance.

Just so you know, there is already a discussion of this event here. The majority seem to agree that the system is pretty great, but the daily requirement could use some refinement.
Love "grind" comments...running 4 patrols a day takes no time. What you call grind I call playing the game. Also you can choose who the dil is claimed on, do the daily on the character to you want it on.
It's fine as a system, we get free things to pad metrics, some people won't be happy unless they get free stuff for nothing.

You have your opinion, others have theirs.. all good.
4 Patrols a day doesn't sound too bad.. until you get to day 20 and you have now done 80 patrols.. then they kinda start to get old.
When the event started, I very much agreed with you, especially since I can do something like Sentinels in 3.5-4min tops. After day 20 though.. I had a very different opinion.
This is the first time I didn't partake in the event, I guess it was just too much for me. I like that the system offers smaller bites to complete the daily, but having no single task that does the trick made me pass. I did the episode and TFOs multiple times, and then just couldn't bring myself to do it any more, even when I had the time.

I usually just do the TFO twice. Usually, unless I have a space damage endeavor
Only way I could stand doing it was this, the mission should have given full completion. We also need more then one TFO chooses, if we had say one ground option and one space option it would have been more bearable. They could even make Random event tfo option for the choose marks box.
Honestly, I enjoyed it and played it all the way through without buying out. I found after everyone figured out how Mycelial Realm worked, it could be blitzed very quickly, usually less than 10 minutes. I split two runs every day between two newer characters, got them both ready to utilize the Discovery reputation, and got my ship. I find it easy enough that I'll keep running it until the event ends for the dilithium bonuses.
I'll miss the 50,000 dilithium per character, but all in all the new system is effective.
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Well I like the idea of Cryptic gently trying new approaches to events, but in doing so there will be hits & misses & I try to stay mindful of that. Earning the ship is, of course, nice. The added perks of the Elachi weapons I think was a great innovative addition, & I think it adds immersion (theme) to the event. The 3 upgrades (for weapons) are a nice boon too. I like the options in how to complete the daily 60 marks needed, but I could see some more balancing needed between the 3 options (mission, TFO,Patrol). I may not complete it every day but I also really like the opportunity presented by Cryptic in earning the dilithium after earning the Elachi ship. The mission was decent/good, but not sure if really worth repeating. The TFO is usually fun as long as there's no "lazy sponges" on your team. The biggest negative, imo, is the paltry 15 marks earned for Patrols & not utilizing the already established Daily Bonus Marks deserves to be questioned & answered. However, Cryptic most recent update to Patrols had me from not doing them daily to now having a couple of my characters completing them once about every other day. Overall, I feel this event required more effort from me, not even sure if true mathematically with time involved & the condensed days given, but gave me a bit more too.
I quite enjoyed the.. 'meta-reward'.. of working towards the ship/loot in the background while I ran around doing stuff that didn't involve getting stuck in a queue/TFO. Being able to split progress across multiple characters was greatly appreciated as well.
While the universal rewards of the new patrol system are certainly nice(iconian marks outside a TFO, for example), the reward/progress scale did feel a bit burnout-inducing. I think bumping the marks/event token progress to a flat 30 per patrol and 60 per TFO would feel a lot nicer for the time investment - both for general reputation progression and event participation.
Yeah I like that there are options, but the options aren't that great. They are all annoying in one way or another, especially having to do them over and over again. It is more variety than standard events, but there is no one and done option which means you have to keep track of it, even if it is just a few clicks to check event progress, its something you didn't have to do before.
The lack of daily marks with patrols is also really frustrating. They aren't even there in the redone delta patrols where they used to offer delta+daily marks. If they aren't going to offer daily marks, though, then they should be offering more marks period. That time spent running patrols I could be earning daily marks for different reputations. If they offer at least 30 then its a day of progress on a daily rep project per patrol which is fine.
For me, previous events I'd often run them on several characters for the big dil payouts, but how many greatly depended on how fun and how fast the event was. This one has no per character dil payout and the activities are more annoying than fun so it is one I'd only bother with on a single character, which would be a one and done kind of situation, which is typically 10-15 minutes per day. This event is closer to half an hour per day and only gets me daily marks on one reputation if I do the STF.
Overall the system is okay, but I think future events should have a one and done activity, and better mark payouts. If you want me to grind make it worth my time. Other events I would spend similar or more time doing, but I'd be getting a bigger payout.
Sorry, no. Patrols always triggered the Daily. The 'founding' Announcement Blog made it clear the intention. The trivial Delta Command Missions you get (scan, deliver, etc.) flying through trigger it.

No, because with omega, you actually get omega, which has a huge value. Plus you get an event jumpstart with a featured episode.
The amount of work required for a ship is too much it should be 45 points daily and 900 points total, max.
And here you also got a set of lock box beams and 3 (beam) Ultimate Upgrade tokens.
I finally got around to putting the Omega pieces from the Anniversary Event together on my Discovery Character about a month and a half ago. Got one Omega Upgrade and had two red pieces left over.
I never farmed that stuff. I can never get above about 600 points max during the mini-game and mostly in the 450-525 range. I got to the point near the end of the Event to just get over 100 points and let the thing auto-pilot. In fact, I prayed for the glitch that completed it right away - five seconds and out.
The 4x Quality Improvement is not a big deal. As it is usually 4x the 1% unless you use it on the upgrade of Mk II VR whatever.
I mainly use the Phoenix Upgrades and Ultimates with a few Romulan Admiralty thrown in to shore up the completion without wasting a Phoenix.

The patrols and TFO are nicely designed. The new event process has it ups and downs. The scaling buyout is good as is the ability to run the event on more than one character. Daily logins seem to be the driving mindset of this event after event model being adopted. Hopefully they'll space events out in a reasonable manner with full credit given that it's still in it's initial stages and that further small changes or fine tuning may be made.
I used the TFO as my primary method of completion and it left me feeling decently engaged, much more so than some of the older event designs, so this is another plus. Also great timing on the upgrade weekend for my new set of Elachi crescent weapons. If I can find the time the dilithium bonus associated with the event could very well offset some of what I spend on upgrades.
