Achilles class Starship

The Achilles Class made it's Debut in the star trek dominion wars video game, I have always wondered why this design has not been brought into STO. i'd love to see this class added.

I personally think if it was to be added that The Achilles class should be classified as a torpedo escort.

Cryptic doesn't have a license to other game's content, only what's in the shows and movies. They'd have to negotiate a separate deal to use another game's ships, and they've had issues with licensing ships from outside the shows in the past.

J'Ula is also from the comics, and the Aventine/Vesta class is from the books, as is Mackenzie Calhoun. Some rare exceptions that have made it into STO.

I think the Vesta is one of the ones that they had a lot of trouble over. They have been rather cautious lately, not even using all of the canon ships from DS9 for instance (though they do have most of them), such as the kitbash Yeager class and a few others.

They are also staying completely away from canon ships with even the slightest whiff of iffy IP, like the Orion Wanderer which, according to the (untested) wording of the license FASA published the game under, both companies owned the rights to any ships FASA came up with (though that could be CBS not including them in STO's license instead of something Cryptic decided).

The Achilles was a fine looking ship but I doubt we will ever see her in this game due to licencing issues. Same with the fan made Excaliber Class

Didn't they do a contest to design the Odyssey class ships, as well as the contest that created the Luna class USS Titan?

It would be nice if they did another contest to design a new ship, not because I don't like the ones the company has done, but it would be nice to get more fan participation.

I would be great to see what some very creative fans have devised in the intervening years since the last contest as ship designs and aesthetics have evolved over the years through new movies and tv shows.
