So, I'm playing this morning on one of my TOS toons, and during the completion of a mission, I'm PERMANENTLY transported to the 25th Century. I rolled my TOS toons so I could play TOS. I had no idea that it was a temporary part of the game. I was looking forward to getting a Constitution Class Starship and playing it.
Unfortunately the only way to get a constitution class is by buying a starter pack which only gives you one to start with (it is a very basic beginner ship) or to be incredibly lucky getting one from a promotional ship pack (random very very small chance of getting a ship, otherwise it's materials or duty officers depending on the packs). There are other ships available that are ToS style and looks, but the game mostly takes place after TNG and ships are from that era.
There are a few time travel missions to take you back for the mission but that's it
It is 100% understandable how someone new to the game could think that you actually stay in the time period of the chatacter you create, so hopefully you wont get any rude responses from old timers. Having said that, that scenario would mean the devs would have had to create an entire games worth of content for each time period, and that is simply not feasible.
The TOS-era set of missions were built as a one-shot set of missions to celebrate the anniversary of the series.
If you're looking for a character that you can keep in a separate era for a bit, try the Disco character. They've added more in-period content twice I think so far for that? And I would think they'll add more given that ST:Discovery has moved on from that time frame, which might give Cryptic some more liberties in that space. Plus ST:Section 31 should give some more content for that time, when it launches.
But otherwise, yeah for both 'in the past' options, you'll end up in current time after a handful of missions.

While true, that I'd a very very long road for a new player, I was attempting to give him the basics for what he's looking at now rather than get into the economics of trying to get such an expensive ship off of the exchange. A new player jumping in looking to fly a Connie is really better to look at what else is available until they have a bit of experience in the game to look at that long grind don't you think? It's what? Over a billion for the Connie these days? *Shudder*

Actually even if you tally in all the 23c disco content is still at best as long as the TOS chain, IIRC there's 4 23c missions for DSC and 5 for TOS (excluding the tutorial for either of them). the most recent content or the "Killy" aren't DSC era 23c (aka the 2250s) but rather 25c involving characters first introduced in DSC season 1.
In fact if you include the devidian arc and (currently removed) subarc in the klingon war arc, you get more content in the 2260s-2270s then you ever get in the late 2250s.

True, true. But I'd be surprised if that balance didn't change in the next while, as they continue to add more Disco content.

as far as I know the 2257 arc is over and done with as with the 2270 arc and we'll only episodes like the most recent which are set in 2410 or later, but involved event or characters from DSC in some way.

The Spectres arc (the one with the Dividians) is not removed, though for some unknown reason they locked it away to endgame even though it is still a level 30 mission or thereabouts internally (you still get the Andorian phasers last time I checked, which are nice for TOS captains, but they are still only rare quality which is a very bad thing at endgame).
It would have made a lot more sense to keep it in the episodes tab and skippable since it is a full arc, or at least keep it available at its original level in the 'available' tab.
I wonder if the endgame lock was done to try and drive TOS players to K-13 for their gear. If so they did just the opposite since a lot players see there is nothing available in TOS phasers readily available and not knowing about K-13 (or not having enough fleet resources to buy anything there) just give up and use other weapons. Spectres was in just the right position originally to keep them going.

Maybe? I'd be surprised if there's no additional content in that time though. ST:Section 31 will probably at least have some new content to put in there.
But yeah you're right, at least for now the Disco content is 2410-based.

I meant the arc with Miral Paris and B'vat that's currently removed, as in the "dividian arc (that is not removed) and the currectly removed subarc with in the klingon war arc involved content from the 2260-2270 era".
I have one TOS toon still in the TOS era and a Captain he just hangs out around space dock I just don’t do the last mission so he can’t advance forward to 2410

Thanks for all the information gentlemen. Actually, I'm a returning player. I quit before about the time they went to free to play and limited the free play toons to level 24. But, as a returning player, I was hoping to get the Constitution Class, not depending on it. Had to try the free way first. Logic dictates the attempt.
Never the less, I will endeavor to persevere and obtain the ship I desire by other means.
Your information was valuable and appreciated.

What game did that? I know WoW has a thing where you can play for free up to a certain level, but STO never did.
Yeah. I started as F2P and wasn't limited in how far I could level Went all the way to 50, like everyone else. Now the level cap is 65 now and most of my toons are there now.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
