Plasma Piercing Beam Rifle - Stuck in Auto Fire

I have several toons that use the Plasma Piercing Beam Rifle as they main weapon on ground. Sometimes the rifle will do a constant auto fire at nothing or lock on to another player for no reason. Is this an issue with this particular weapon or just a glitch? I tried searching the forum for a previous post; but, couldn't locate one. Is this something that the developers are already aware of or do I need to put a ticket in to support?
