Loadouts help needed

I'm having a bit of difficulty trying to find some good weapon load outs for my Fleet Tactical Escort t6 which is the t6 version of the Defiant. I know i'm doing something wrong but my dps is a bit lack luster is dual heavy cannons not a good weapon anymore or what? I wish there is a dps meter and a holographic target dummy to measure what your load outs is actually doing. The stats on a weapon say one thing but what it really is doing is another. I'm really confused I want beef up dps on my ship but I feel like I hit a brick wall and don't know how.

I come here and ask for help. Is there other weapons that is more effective then cannons? And if cannons is good how many and what kind? And if the ship in itself is not as good as dps as I thought what ship should I look for as a dps ship.

I agree I don't have the best equipment but sometimes I feel like I'm shooting blanks with my cannons and doing very very little damage. I feel i'm doing something wrong here. Perhaps someone is kind enough to help me out I would appreciate it. Also what kind of consoles should I be looking for now days?

I really wish the devs would clarify more simplicity on stuff. I'm a returning player I missed out on some stuff. Maby the ship i'm using is obsolete?

What other gear are you using? How about what skills and specializations. I'm my exprience there's no such thing as an "obsolete" ship, that said there's a rather major DPS jump there at the high end based on gear level. Also what are your power levels as DHC are quite power hungry.

Also do you have any indication as to what your current DPS is? Oh and if you can do so there's exactly what you want on the tribble at the moment (essentially a static dummy to see what your DPS is).

Oh and due to resistances and buffs your effective DPS is gonna be different then your DPS shown on weapons.

Also some newer mobs are massive damage sponges so your might seem to be doing nothing even if you're doing decent DPS.

And there is no offensive stats in the ships display like it has in defense. It should give you detailed report on it's offense. I hope the Devs can look into this so we can stop guessing what your ship is doing. One of my dual heavy cannons says it is around 1000+ dps but for all I know it could be doing half that. After Diminishing returns and other stuff it could be doing less then half. I really have no clue what i'm doing.

their under tactical stats. and they just added an area to the tribble test server, so you can test your build. go to drozana in the bar area across from the exchange/bank area is a console that'll take you there. use this link if you don't have arc: https://arcgames.com/en/my/character/copy/sto

if you do you can use the arc profile page.

and cannons are in a really good spot as in not using them is now "bad" and it's never the ship, if it'd T-5u or higher you should be good. post your build and we should be able to help you see what is not working.

also if you haven't make sure your traits haven't unsloted themselves.

You might also want to check out some of the cheap DPS builds over at the DPS League site.

They're for the T5U version, but that's easily adaptable to your T6. Use the tips that coldnapalm gave you, and remember that when you're under heavy fire.. keep moving. The thing with Escorts is that you have to know when to depend on your defense bonus from speed and when it's safe to 'park and shoot.' It's not terribly complicated, it's something you learn from just general play.

Use those as a template and the advice given here and you should be ok. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Good luck!

Another thing is check your specializations, they add to damage in different ways which should be taken into account when fighting. One example is that Intelligence plays well with escorts since it boosts the damage from tailshotting the enemy and you want to do that when possible anyway to take advantage of the escort's natural advantage in that regard.

And something as simple as going commando (yes the pun is intentional) on a space map, which I have done few times before having the wrong specialization that is.

Having a wrong specialization and easily cost you a decent chunk of DPS (just how much depends on the map, well if it's space or ground but you mention a ship class so I assume space), also Phoenixc I'm pretty sure only raiders (well ships with "raider flanking") have real advantage as to where you attack, unless you're referring to escorts ability to more easily get to the opponents rear and stay there.

intel spec has flanking too, and if I remember correct they stack. there is also a console that basically add flanking from one the newer lockboxs haven't gotten it so don't know if it stacks with raider and intel flanking.

For Specialization, your best options on your T6 Defiant will be either Intel Primary with Statagist as secondary, or Intel as Primary with Pilot as the secondary. Stratagist is the 'meta,' but personally I still like pilot on my smaller ships. I find that things like the hull HP from Attack Patterns, the Defense bonus when stopped, and things like Scratch the Paint and Rock and Roll can really help with survival on softer ships.

The better DPS is with Stratagist though, if you're not having survival issues.. that's probably the better way to go.
