I'm starting to be of the opinion that vanity shields should have a set look, and be able to completely override a ships base colors. Having the ships' base coloring bleed through the vanitys seriously ruins alot of them and makes some ships a real pain to pretty up. Anyone else having this problem?
Some shields completely change the ships's color (jem'hadar, lukari, nukara), some only add a few extra splashes of color and patterns ( borg, iconian, counter command, disco legends, maco, etc.) which works as intended so I have absolutely no idea what your "bleeding through" issue is.
Section 31. Reman. And borg are the ones I currently know of that have a bleedthrough. But knowing that some vanity affect are only accents instead of complete coverage is new to me. Either way. Just my opinion that if I'm gonna equip a vanity of some sort. I'd like the affect to completely change my ships color and whatnot

They've always been like this, and each to their own with their preference. As with the Borg, I prefer that as it is, same with Aegis, and it allows more personalisation to be honest.

OK. To strip off all that undercoating colors and patterns. Go to : Ship Tailor. Go to: Advanced.
In the Advanced menu: toggle options for Patterns on all parts to: NONE.
That should just give you the plain base.

I am currently using the Section 31 vanity shield on the Intel Assault Cruiser with no bleed through.
Same... I have yet to see any kind of "bleed-through" with the Section 31 shield...
I'm gonna need to see pics on this one...

I think the Reman shield visuals are bugged. It used to basically make your ship kind of a metallic black/really dark green with the stained glass green panels. But every time I see it its more Stormtrooper white with the green panels.
Also the Reman shield is hidious on an Ambassador class.

It's not the reman shield per se it's lighting 2.D'oh. On some maps some settings go haywire and you get that blindingly grey hull. Same deal with the original fed intel ship material and the S31 vanity shield.
