The question: do they listen? Has been officially answered, and renders this thread moot.
The community had something to say about the new "Dixie" audio emote. The Devs listened, and a change made.
Not sure if you're serious or sarcastic. This particular episode proves they listen to a tiny minority with a dubious complaint, ignore all dissent from a larger majority, and are happy to go ahead and even silence further discussion on the decision as evidenced in the announcement thread.
In no universe is that rationally considered "listening."

You want to discuss it? Discuss it. Just not in THAT thread, because it's no longer part of the event and would be derailing and distracting from event discussion. And not THIS thread, because that would also be derailing and could potentially takeover this thread. So, a new thread would probably be best. Also, if you're going to discuss it, then do so civilly and within the forum rules. But given the subject matter, do people really think they can without it devolving into a flame war? Somehow I doubt it, but I'm willing to let people try.

Yes I know. 50 years on this planet, and yet people think I somehow missed everything, or know nothing. 9+ years of playing STO from closed Beta to public release. Good grief I could start a "I remember when..." thread about how this game (and community) has changed.
*Sheesh*
The OP asked a question at the start of this thread - and recent events show that the Devs/Mods/Cryptic listened.
Was it a "tiny minority" that had something to say? I don't know. This forum is not the only means peeps have of "expressing" views. And regardless, that point is moot: because they listened, and the proof is right in front of you. It's just one example.
Not liking the proof? That's not my problem. Ignoring it? That just renders this thread as nothing but a place to whine for no reason. In which case I would encourage BMR to close it.
The facts are simple people: the Devs/Mods do NOT - and should never do IMOO - JUMP just because a player tells them to. They do listen, but NOT to complaining just for the sake of complaining.
And like all people, they hear things better when you make polite and constructive points.

People ask how long have I been playing STO - well the answer is simple: I have been here since the beginning. I just haven't always had a lot to say.

Ha!
I'm referring to captionobvious - one post history count and a wall of text 'from facebook', with a very similar writing style from a certain (banned) person.

He shouldn't have been so obvious about it.

Audio Emotes do seem rather silly - your starship may well have a horn, but the sound of it won't propagate in a vacuum. Or are you seriously going to open hailing frequencies to play "Take Me Out To the Ball Game"?
I've said my piece on the removed emote elsewhere, and Baddmoon is right, it inevitably devolves to a flame war, and a very depressing one as people's prejudices become publicly exposed.

Amen to that.
If they are listening, responses to things like the feedback section would be nice. That isn't a 'ton of new posts', its almost "no one bothers posting there anymore because it seems to go unread".

I think that's the biggest problem, they read stuff.. they just don't acknowledge it. To the players, that looks like they're not listening when it's entirely possible that they are.
They do respond more on Reddit, they don't respond here much at all, especially Kael. People still tag him for some reason, but he doesn't interact with players here.. ever. He occasionally responds on Reddit.
After the Discoprise dropped, someone posted the bug over there about the FAW 1 and FAW III bug, it was looked into and fixed at the very next patch. There are many other examples of stuff like this as well.. so they do listen. They just don't read everything and they seldom reply.. almost never over here.
BadMoonRising please /Thread - you were sadly right.
Again, you take a bunch of shots and then call for a lock. Please stop trying to use the mods as your way of getting the last word in, it's cheap and transparent. They're here to enforce forum rules, not to make sure you always get the last word.

Just to let you know, the bug was also reported through the Reddit/STO discord channel. Several of the QA team hang out there and we usually PM them bugs we notice, or they ask us for more specific testing to help out. But we also dont pester them or constantly PM them. As some of them hang out there with us lot and joke around or show cool screenshots of ships they like and have.
As to why they dont hang out in the official forums as much, I am sure they have their reasons. I know I find reddit is easier to browse as any major issue or bug that may have occurred is easier to locate the main thread. Unlike here where you might get half a dozen spread over several sub-threads.
I don't really blame them for not responding.. especially considering some of the stuff posted here. I just think the lack of reply is what leads to the illusion that they don't read it and are not listening.
People tend to think that if they don't receive an acknowledgement then their issue was not heard. I absolutely understand that there is no realistic way they could respond to every little thing.

Oh i agree fully. Also, sadly sometimes they cant respond cause they dont have a answer. Yet some people expect them to have a answer straight away.

The main thing that sucks to me about them not acknowledging the feedback section is that I actually posted something that could make them significant cash in the c-store. Yes I asked about an option to change things 'globally' for a captain on the tailor for body/face, but also was suggesting that they add packs of endeavor reroll tokens to the cstore, cause a lot of people are running out of them. ^_^ I'd almost be willing to put money on something like that selling very well. ^_^

Yes, it's unfortunate some people here will cling on to every word as an excuse to complain. If a developer makes any acknowledgement of an issue at all, no matter how preliminary and provisional, some people will take it as a set-in-stone promise to get it done right away and the whine about "lying" starts the very next patch day.

That's an important point - people keep forgetting that this is a Free To Play MMO, which means the capital being put into it, the resources, the size of the development team is NOT going to be as extensive as what you would see with a Subscription based only MMO, which has regular income.
The Devs have a list of things they are working on, a list of priorities. Do they listen of the player base? Do they take note of things that are said? Of bug reports?
Yes - but within the bounds of the resources they have.
I have posted bug reports, and they have been acted on. Maybe not right that second, but they have eventually been acted on. The resources the Devs have are limited. I don't think many members of the player-base get that. Some players are stuck in the past with how things used to be when STO first launched. It's a different paradigm now, and has been for sometime. Yet, they want the whole cake, without having to pay for it. And given this is a F2P game, the offered cake is still pretty good. Yeah, the frosting may not be to everyone's liking, and maybe the decoration is a little wobbly on one corner, but it's still a decent free cake.

Whole heartedly agree. They address issues as and when they can. I'm one of only a tiny few that post Console bugs (and the odd PC bug) that I find on the forum, where it should be posted, and they do act on them, but I give plenty of leeway because I know how busy they are......and yes, I've the patience of a saint. There is zero point in coming to the forums to complain the Dev's don't listen, just because they don't personally respond to 'a sure fire way of increasing C-Store sales' or 'you've not fixed this bug yet' simple because they don't have the time to respond, and it is not their job to.
And as for the game being F2P and income is based on what players are willing to put into it; I view complaining about tiny graphics issues or 'lack of content' is just plain looking the gift-horse in the mouth just after you've pulled it away from the water it was about to drink.
