I am Referring to ships like the Voth Citadel ship and the iconian Iaidon Capital Ship you know the massive ships players can't use yet? well i was wondering if the development team intends to allow players to fly these ships in the near future. i admire how STO is designing new ships and all but there are people who favor the old yet very popular ships that they cant use yet.

I'm 100% on board with those if Cryptic would like to add them as one of the new Juggernaut class ships.

YES please lols. I would love to get my hands on a Voth Citadel ship or similar. Of course I'm "that guy" who would love to get my hands on a Voth City ship cause reasons.
"Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again." - Jean Luc Picard in Star Trek Generations
Considering we already have the Universe Class and KDF/Rom variants. I am all for this. Just would love for some kind of cruiser aspect to them. giant TRIBBLE things should be cruisers.
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

A Voth Citadel ship would have to be navigated using a mouse "go here", "orbit that" type interface. Turning these things directly would ruin the sense of scale, bulk and momentum they should have.
Then, they're just too big to fit on STO's maps. You can't have these things warping in and occupying space at the usual communal warp in areas. What do you do if two people warp in to one map with them? They ARE a map in their own right.

Terrible idea.
Firstly, just too big.
Secondly, queue the inevitable complaints about 'Cryptic dropping the ball' because the ships don't get the turn-rate (because unless a ship turns on a dime it's no good), consoles (because it should have 10 tac consoles) and weapon slots (because it's not got 30 slots) that players think it should have.
Thirdly, queue complaints because their humungous ship got taken down in 5 seconds by an NX.
But this goes in line with what Dev's have said before about Borg Cubes. They'd probably have to increase the distance the camera could zoom out, IF the engine will allow it.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

I would prefer smaller ships, really. The ships you mention are massive objects in space that can make it hard to fly around them on a crowded map. The last time I was at DS9, the game tried to put my ship and something huge that had just warped in in the same space, it was that crowded. Just finding your own mid size ship outside a busy port can sometimes be a problem, and the Faeht intel warbird isn't that small, actually! Maybe make those really insanely huge ships something rare and very special. (Not this thread, but what I would really like to see is the Romulan scout ship from TNG "The Defector").
A Voth Citadel ship would have to be navigated using a mouse "go here", "orbit that" type interface. Turning these things directly would ruin the sense of scale, bulk and momentum they should have.
All ships should be navigated like that (or by typing in headings). No ship in Star Trek has ever had the kind of manual control scheme STO uses. Even the shuttles are operated by touchscreen controls.
Then, they're just too big to fit on STO's maps. You can't have these things warping in and occupying space at the usual communal warp in areas. What do you do if two people warp in to one map with them? They ARE a map in their own right.

As long as they got their own specific warp in point well away from other players in zones like sol space, kind of how supermarkets send trucks around back. It's cramped enough for normal vessels and you already get shoved several km if a universe decides to arrive and block your view.
As an aside there used to be an app called star control that let you use the ipad as a controller, even had an Lcars skin option, which wasn't bad but ultimately you were still piloting via a keyboard despite using touch controls.
And of course lets not forget rikers £20 joystick....
Actually I just posted another thread similar to this. Why don't we have ACTUAL carriers? BIG ships like you are mentioning that have 6 or 8 hanger bays? I get the litter buggers game mechanic is basic at best, but imagine how much furball there would be with 48 Elite fighters flying around? And a BIG slow moving ship that has stupid crazy defense weapons. Imagine a Dreadnought with 2 front and 2 rear weapons but has BUILT IN automated defense systems that ONLY fire on small vessels or projectiles. They added the whole expiremental weapons things, so they aren't apposed to added new weapons types to the game. So have 2 or 4 weapon slots for ADS systems (not button clicky like the Point Defense Arrays). Again, not an impact on DPS since they couldn't attack capital ships. BUT imagine dropping into battle and dropping of 16 frigates? or 8 frigates and 24 fighters? Also, why is STO the only Star Trek game that doesn't (really) have drones? I know the one romulan and the one Kelvin ship, but actually have several classes of drone, and ships that can carry a bunch of them. So again, hypothetically, this super carrier could equip 8 drones and drop massive mayhem.
Either way, yes, I support bringing BIG ships into game. Even though we already have scaling problem.....but thats neither here nor there.
Just to clarify my earlier comments.. while I don't personally like these enormous ships, I try and make it a policy not to spend any effort opposing things that others want based on my personal preference. The comments about the players themselves that was moderated did not come from me, I always favor people being able to play what they want to play. Simply put, if I don't want it.. I always have the option of just not purchasing it.
That being said, large ships do have certain game play problems when it comes to the spawn in point in social zones and even in maneuvering in some missions. I personally believe that the Universe is larger then what should be used for player ships, but obviously that's just my opinion. I can see certain game play problems should ships ever exceed that size.
I just don't see something the size of a Citadel ship being realistic as a player option.

The VFX spam is already eye-watering. You would not even see half of what is happening in your suggestion. Add to that 48 Elite Fighters and you get into crazy unbalanced issues. 48? That's silly. What about those fighters that have access to Torpedo: High Yield? 48 High Yield torpedoes will end most encounters before they begin. In a blaze of eye-watering VFX...

Give the size we're talking here. I'll at least be able to see my ship in all the visual spam. Granted, a ship this size, with camera distance, it's about all I'll see. So there is that.

I agree the visual FX would be crazy. But I personally play on my TV, so personally think that would be cool!
And regarding the 48 fighters...you forget the game mechanics right now for hanger pets.....sucks. Gotta figure about 1/2 wont ever engage bc they are just....bored? I don't know whats up. Plus they tend to be drawn to warp core explosions like bugs to a zapper.
BUT, why aren't there TRUE carriers in this game? A spec'd carrier has one more hanger (and much less weaponry and tact consoles) than quite a few cruisers or the like that have 1 hanger bay. Really? Thats a carrier?

So you're just after a lazy "I win" ship. But there are carriers in-game and they're 'balanced' so they're not too OP.
You can always get the Scorpion Fighter Hangar Device which gives you a max total of 18, plus on the Jem Carrier, the two Wingmen and Ship-Sep pet for 21.

Hope it never happens.. the Enterprise J is an abomination and it's silly having players fly ships that are bigger then ESD.
I am sure it will happen though because huge ships sell well.
Even then the Universe class is like a ant compared to the Voth city ships...I just see no possible way for a player to ever pilot it unless they release a ship that is small fraction of the size of a real one.
But I imagine a fair bit of the people who want to fly these things want theirs jumbo, which I cant see happening. The Sarcophagus already has a turn rate of 4....what are these going to be? 1....2 tops...less?

A) no? and carriers generally aren't really balanced, hence they don't get flown a lot per capita. Carriers kind ARE "I win" ships.....but still not arguing for that
C) The current model (generally) has been to remove two weapons for the extra hanger slot. Hence I offered to remove two more (kinda a massive cripple) to add more hanger slots. In a revision though I would agree, that removing two weapons would prob only fairly gain two hanger slots for a total of 4. Not unbalanced as a T6 ship with only 4 weapons but 4 hangers would be about right. And the point defense can't be used against other player ships, they would be against other fighters and targetable torpedoes. Taking it down to only 2 weapon slots TOTAL would be more balanced for 6 - 8 hanger slots. Again, with only 2 or 4 weapon slots, and I would also propose maybe only 2 tac slots, and 5/5 eng and sci slots, the "carrier" is designed to be able to defend itself PERIOD against anything, but not really engage other capital ships itself.
I think it would be a different and fun game play. Yes, carrier vs carrier battles would be a dang disco light show...but it would look COOL. And having the extra hangers you could have heavy bombers (frigates) with medium and light escorts. And since the hanger pets are kinda horrible to control, and die a lot, I don't think it would be OP. Again, with 2 forward weapons and 2 aft, or 1 and 1.....the carrier isn't really doing much itself. But it would have hull plating and shield buffs and the point defense array so would be an actual Carrier. Sit back, launch fighters, spend you time individually controlling each group to promote damage and survivability, etc.
