Lock Trajectory

Was wondering if anyone else was having the following problem... I decided to try out the ability "Lock Trajectory". For those who don't know it, it allows you to turn your ship without changing course. Very helpful if you have forward firing weapons with a narrow cone of fire. Problem is its now stuck randomly locking trajectory. This often causes me to slide out of range of my targets. The ability is not selected or on auto, I even removed the officer that had the ability.
