Colony world CHEATING/BUG

I have reported this to the GM's but it is clear that all they are interested in is just kicking this one under the TABLE.

Colony world cheat.

There is a way to remove the shield generators from the colony simulator which allows players to cheat. This means that players can stand away from the actual battle and dance, or do what they like, and receive all rewards for taking part but not doing anything.

The GM's response is to this bug/cheat is to expose the person reporting such a cheat/exploit and do nothing about those that are cheating.

Manipulating any bug is covered under TOS, its bug exploiting and classed as cheating.

If the Colony simulator does not have any Shield Generators, then NPC attackers leave the map, thus wave after wave do not need to be killed. Some cheating players will spend all day on this map exploiting this bug (as told by a GM who didn't want to deal with this issue), and bug exploiting is cheating.

If this bug was giving players free Zen, would your GM's tell people to post it on the forum? This is a cheat where some players have been milking it for months, and when its been reported in the past its clearly been ignored.

It has not been ignored. The developers have previously stated that the ability to move the generators is by design and is not a bug.

If that is not a bug, then exploiting it does not meet the TOS definition of cheating.

Also, by the way, it does not completely disable the hostiles in the colony simulation (the mortars and the rooftop spawn still appear), nor does it make the simulation go faster than normal.

The colony simulations WERE already "nerfed" by removing the resale value from the reward provisions. That happened about nine months ago.

Regardless of the "Developers" knowingly stating that the ability to move the Generators does not mean they are removed from a single map which players are exploiting.

If you had this choice to remove generators there would be a box which you can tick which would say, "Make it easy so I do sweet FA in Simulation please as I'm a snowflake that cannot do hard work."

If this was not a bug in they system people would not spend hours trying to get the map in the first place, it would not be a special map that exploiters know how to make, and it would be available to everybody at the start of every simulator. This tells you only one this, it is being exploited by people that know how to create the exploitable map. Remember the word Exploitable..., this means that people do something to gain rewards for little or no effort.

The Developers have to FIX this bug because of its exploit-ability, and how people can farm it all day with little or no work at all.

To define an exploitable map as not cheating would be to call a mouse and elephant.

Are you talking about Colony Invasion Simulator???
They are farming it for what? Fleet Marks? And Colony Provisions?

Or are you talking about the TFO: Colony Invasion?

Not going to discuss where it is in here because those people cheating will continue and those that are not will try and figure out the bug so they can be banned for cheating, so please do not ask.

I will.. Colony Simulation.. I joined one of those a couple of weeks ago.. Had no idea what was going on 'cause the gen's weren't where they were supposed to be.. I asked what was going on, and was told:

.."This is a marathon SIM. The gens were moved so the NPC's wouldn't spawn on top of them. All you have to do is kill what you want to, however, some NPC's may get to the GEN.. Kill them ASAP"..

So.. come to find out, it can take hours to set up a SIM to be able to do this. You have to move all 4 gens in order for it to work. I don't know how it's done, but I've seen it in action. As stated earlier, the mortars and roof stuff still spawn and will still kill the gens if not taken care of.

It appears that once the map is modified, it's kept alive for a long period of time, hence the "SIM Marathon" announcement. On a supportive note to the OP, if you will, the SIM channels have been actively banning players if a player uses this capability on a "regular" Colony Sim run.

IMHO, saying it's cheating, exploit, what ever, is like telling me I can only cut my grass a certain way 'cause somebody doesn't like the pattern it makes. Right, I'm really going to listen to that.

On the other hand, it's THEIR holding. If the Fleet has the capability, can set it up, can run the SIM, they should be entitled to do what they want to.

They earned and paid for the Sim Token, where as most other participants get a free-ride. It's their Colony. They are hosting. Who has the right to tell them what they can do at their own holding.

If you don't like the map, you can always leave. There's generally plenty of other folks that will take your spot. Kind of like a show on TV you don't like. Just turn the channel instead of trying to get it taken off the air.

As Spock said, .."The needs of the many, outweigh the few, or the one"...

So, what harm is done ??

LOL! Well, why not? You don't get a reward, just go for the XP or Accolade for kills, I suppose, it still pays out for that? I wasn't paying attention because I was playing on Tribble...when it was brand new. Have not bothered with it on Holodeck.

They used to have missions set up in the Foundry that had specific enemy NPCs so one could work on the Accolades. I have not had the time to check and see if those things are still in there.
