I'd really like to see the TOS era content get updated more for TMP era stuff. Especially the ships getting a TMP variant. I love my Atlas Dreadnaught but a TMP version would be amazing.
I love TMP but it isn't what's "in" right now. ST-D is new so of course they'll focus on it. Plus there's the new Picard series coming and for all we know, we'll even get some stuff related to the new Star Trek cartoon comedy series that's coming out. Unless there's some sort of special TMP related anniversary coming, I don't really see why Cryptic would focus on it.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
I'm a nope on this because the uniforms are the fugliest in canon. My eyeballs bleed every time I see them.
Though okay, if they give us Uhura's 'fro to use on our toons I could be down for this, other than that I could very well do without.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.

Says the person with a avatar of someone wearing said uniform
So because "you" think the uniforms are ugly means we should just ignore a period in Trek? Besides...the motion picture uniforms are easily the most bland out of any era's uniforms!

Just give me proper WoK Phaser. the one the had in the game are clearly not right, exspecially the sound
The lobi store pistol is pretty spot on. The Assault Phaser Pistol on the other hand... looks correct but sounds like a stock phaser and doesn't have the proper sound. Ship based phasers... don't even know if the pulse phasers are supposed to be the WoK phasers honestly.

I agree... the TMP uniforms were ugly as hell. Although they weren't too bad when they were converted into the uniforms used by enlisted personnel in WoK on.
I mean... hard to believe this...

I had pushed for six years in these forums for TMP content and accurate TMP ships... In one seemingly random lock box they gave us the Undiscovered Country phasers and updated the miranda, excelsior and constitution skins! (I seriously think I helped make this happen, because nobody else was making posts about this.)
Thank you OP, I really like that you revived this topic.
So far the wrath of khan type 2 phaser is pretty good. The four small beams it fires and sound effect are SPOT on!!
My original suggestion was to give it two options. Beam fire 1 would rapid fire the pulse beams and vaporize the target. Beam 2 would fire the four small beams (that we see now) and set the target on fire!!!!! (Like when Kirk shot the sand ear wig by chekov's ear)- HAHA could you imagine how funny/cool that would have been?
Unfortunately they didn't give us the pulse beam, only the four tiny beams, and no combustion .
I LOVE the assault hand phaser from Undiscovered country. The Rifle has the exact correct sound but for some bizarre reason they use the standard stock sound fx for the assault phaser pistol!! This was really disappointing and no doubt a bug they simply didn't prioritize. I didn't make a stink about it because I was lucky they even put ANY time in to my request.
Here's a list of things I'd like to see with a TMP nostalgia update:
TMP- Tactical Helmet and Uniforms complete with armor/vest TRIBBLE protector elbow pads.
TMP- Updated Uniforms, to look a little less dated, including Admiral variant with gold stitching and admiral Kirk's clam shell leisure suit from Search for Spock & voyage home.
TMP- Photon Torpedo from Star Trek Undiscovered country. The torps in the last movie had a very distinctive look. They were more red/orange and had a lens flair sort of effect. So the bloom on those suckers would be great and of course track cloaked ships (those things gotta have a tail pipe!)
TMP- Bridge interior for TWoK Enterprise bridge, and Star Trek 6 Excelsior Bridge. These bridge's should be available on all TOS and Temporal ships.
TMP- We pretty much have all the TMP ships... I'd say a T6 Oberth Class and maybe an original Ralph McQuarry design Discovery ship... many of you don't know this but the USS Discovery was based on a design they were actually going to use for the Enterprise A in TMP (and phase 2) but they scrapped it. You can see it's nacelle in space dock during several of the first six TMP movies!!! So maybe a TMP era Discovery ship, that is more like McQuarry, which could actually tie the TMP content in to the Discovery somehow...
TMP- Hire Kirstie Alley to reprise her role as Saavik and see if we can get George Takei on as Captain Sulu for a unique 3 part story line in that amazing lost era...
I think that there's enough content in TMP to make it in to it's own expansion, with it's own transporter effect and story line. It might be a good idea to keep that in the back pocket in case Discovery is cancelled early.
It's my favorite era. And lets have a Whale Probe Fleet Action!!!!! The probe is moving through the solar system toward Earth and you have to try to evacuate as many ships and stations before you lose power! *WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP* "Earths Oceans are being vaporized!* *Insert Admiral Kirk's message to Earth "we are going" *static* "Attempt.. Time.. Travel" channel is lost and mission over!
They should add the Enterprise Era Caps and desert gear.
'But to be logical is not to be right', and 'nothing' on God's earth could ever 'make it' right!'

I think the Terran Rep standard Withering Photons would be a close match. As for tracking cloaked ships... Ionized Gas Sensor console from the Exeter Cruiser Refit accomplishes that with almost any torp you're running.

Yes! Enterprise era needs some love in STO. Throw in Phase Pistols and Rifles, and the MACO weapons too! OH! And the cold weather jackets like we saw in the pilot.

I'd like to see the TMP/movies security outfit, with helmet, added to the costume creator. That and Uhura's hair from the Motion Picture.
I just rewatched TMP last night, and I have to say, I think it is a criminally underrated science fiction masterpiece.
The reason the Motion Picture was underrated is because it was not a normal movie. It was Art- Nuvo! Even the uniforms have grown on me. The thing about them is that they are completely futuristic. Some of our clothing today would horrify people from 100 years ago, to say nothing about 300 years ago!!!!!
The Motion Picture Tunics are subtle, not boring.. there's a difference! They are interesting, and functional and comfortable. Starfleet is trying to communicate that it is a fundamentally peaceful organization. In this way TMP Uniforms were an attempt to bring attention to benevolence while focusing more on content than on the exterior image.
Red Letter Media recently did this analysis of TMP. Everything they've said is what I've said for years about it.
Each to their own. If you are referring to the TMP movie uniforms then yes, they look like PJ's and are actually pretty awful.
However, if you're referring to the uniforms from TWOK - TUC.... I still think that they're the best uniforms Trek ever had. They were a great blend of smart and functional with very unique rank insignia pins that make the, frankly unimaginative, 'rank pip' system look like something a five year old thought of.
What they said, pretty much. TMP may be underwhelming, but the ones from Wrath onward are outstanding! Though with that, we have some of those unis here in the game already. I will say this for the TMP unis, though: you can get a decent cosplay of most 1970s movie or shows. XD
Anywho with that out of the way, I regard Wrath/Search/Voyage as movie Trek's finest moments. So I'd be pretty tickled pink to have those aesthetics for the ships and so on. And I'd be very amenable to seeing some future content, episodes based on any of that era's movies.
Resident TOS, G.I. Joe, Transformers and hair metal fangirl.
This game has a few sector maps that are only used once. I think they need to add a time warp feature so that we can go back to the 23C sector map or the AOD sector and then from there add a WOK sector map or a TNG era sector map and even a ENT map.
Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.

Thats actually a very good idea. It would be interesting if they could give era specific objects and decorations along with the generic things in the foundry to encourage creators to create era specific missions for said sectors.
The Motion Picture Era and "Lost Era" Between Undiscovered Country and Picard is a wealth of potential. George Takei, Walter Koenig and Nichelle all need to be brought in (and soon) Even though Shatner had one of his Twitter tantrums at one of Cryptic's staff who was politely flirting with him about joining STO, (Shatner got irritated and insinuated it was unprofessional to ask him over Twitter and that Cryptic should approach him in a proper business manner)= I think it's still possible to get Shatner.
I'd love to think that when they randomly released the Undiscovered Lock Box and redid the TMP Miranda and Connie and Excelsior to look AMAZING- that Cryptic was laying some brick work for a future TMP era expansion...
Think about it.. the only other time they gave us such specific lock boxes and special costumes was for missions like the Nexus and Levar Burton joining we saw TNG era "alien of the week" ships and weapons and our beloved TNG phaser rifle etc. The Undiscovered Lock Box was just so... Random. No actual content for the movie era was being made at that time. Partly I think it was mine and all of yours posting requests for it, but I have to believe Cryptic is also intending to get more of the Original cast on board for some special adventure.
The general shape of the TMP uniform isn't bad per say, but it's made from too thin material and is too thight. That's why same basic style works as enlisted uniform for ST2-6 as those uniforms were made of wool or similar looking thick fabric making them look less they're about emphesizing the nether region (and chest for females) of the extras and actually looked like 1 peice uniforms meant to be taken seriously for a military style (while we can argue is Starfleet is or is not military per say, their hierarchy and styling is similar to NASA).
Oh and both the TMP and "monster maroon" uniforms are avaible to players.
As for TMP, it's main problem is that it was 1 hour- 1.5 hour story streatched to almost 3 hours, with effects going on and on and on, with no rime or reason to pad out the run time.
There's a reason it's called "the slow motion picture" or "motionless picture", and the "sedated snail" pace is only partly due artistic choices but mostly simply because they didn't have time or budget to re-edit/redo effect shots that were too long and pretty had to put them in the movie as is.
Had they had time to rethink some of the parts where the story just spots but cameras keep rolling and redo the effect into something that didn't overstay welcome it would probably been much well recieved.
TMP isn't so much a bad movie as it's a was good movie that was killed by "under cooking" it.

If you can find it, Robert Wise's Director's Edition DVD pretty much fixes all of that. Sadly, the new effects were made for home video resolution and Paramount doesn't want to re-re-invent the wheel for 1080p/4K blu-rays.

It fixes a lot but not all (I got that DVD), it fixes some of the editing issue, but not the script issues inherent in the movie. The Director's edition is still almost 3 hours long. Essentially there's a lot problems that would have needed reshoots to fix and would have had to be done 1977-1979.
TL:DR the direction edition turns the pace from "sedated snail" to just "snail".
Two hours of the film is just the Enterprise leaving space dock
