Crossroads at Crateris as a Rom aligned alien is bugged & I can't progress

I am playing as a Romulan aligned alien and am up to the Crossroads at Crateris mission, at the point of the mission where you have to escort Zden's shuttle to the beacon no enemy ships even come over to attack and just lye immobile with dead AI far off from the green map indicator ring. By the time Zden's shuttle gets to the beacon where the mysterious ship awaits nothing else happens and he just sits there with his allies. The objective "Defeat Enemy Warbird's" is stuck at 0% despite the initial wave being defeated.

I just made this toon to benefit from the XP weekend but if I can't do this mission because of this bug then I will pretty much miss out on the XP weekend.

    Check the lower-right of your screen for an unanswered hail that should have popped up w=before you started attacking the enemy ships.

    Yes, I always look for the hail option but I seemed to have already done it and nothing else happened.

    Now however I found out that if the allies defeat the all the first NPC's (the battle starts immediately as you start this part of the mission) before you go through with the initial mission dialog the percentage stays stuck at 0% and prevents one from moving forward, so I left and came back and made sure to quickly go through the initial dialog and the bug wasn't present this time.
