"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? Considering the extended maintenance schedule this week, and the fact that S14 released on 10/4/17, October 2nd is a good bet, unless the dev's are way behind schedule...but we've been fooled before! I'm actually surprised that they haven't already pulled the early episodes for the promised updates before now. Meanwhile, I'm grinding my Jems through those as fast as possible to reach for the 90th spec point in my lifetime...

Realistically, I would expect it closer to the end of Fall (say December) than anything else. Both because content takes time to make, and because of marketing purposes, they probably want it close to the 2nd season of Discovery (which apparently is in Jan 2019)

I would imagine November, enough time to get it done...enough time for the players to experience it before the winter wonderland.

October 2. It's pretty obvious. It definitely will not be in November or December. I would expect a blog about new ship bundles and lockbox later this week or Monday.

Fed Admiralty should help big time. ToD 10 gives 2 spec points, and you can dang near get one a day just off a full set of high XP Admiralty assignments.

I mean Cryptic hasn't exactly had the best testing track record...but you really think they're going to release a expansion with only one week of testing major features? (That is assuming they release everything else about AoD tomorrow)

AoD is not an "expansion". As described by Geko in his first interview with P1 after AoD was announced, this will be an ongoing content release. He said that by the end it will have as much content as an "expansion", but that is at the end, not the beginning. If you actually take notice, they are NOT calling this an expansion in any of the announcements.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....
Unless they're just getting tired of calling everything expansions since they use them to push big ship packs...

I'm not sure if you got my point. This isn't "walking like a duck"(duck = expansion) because it isn't going to be a big content drop like an expansion. It is going to be small content releases over a long period of time, like Seasons. And that point specifically applies to your comment about they not releasing an expansion with only a week's worth of testing. Granted I don't think they will only test this a week, but since it's not going to be an entire expansions worth of content that will be released at once, then amount of time required to test will not be as long as is needed for an expansion either. See my point?

Expansion or not it's still gonna take more than a week...not just getting a few missions...getting (technically) a new mini-faction.
ViL literally only had 2 missions for JH before they chose a faction...and JH still got more than a week of testing.

With today's announcement of a new Infinity box version, lasting two weeks from Thursday, 9/27, we're looking at 10/11 or maybe 10/16 for AoD now...a little behind the normal release schedule, but I'll take it if it also means a key sale!

Probably 10/9, or that week. Their Fall releases are usually later than that since going Free to Play. Early November the first 2 years. middle to late October the next 3, with only last year's being before October 14th.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
