Howdy Developers, it’s been sometime I wanted to discuss something with you guys that has been festering me for some time now. I’m a huge Star Trek fan, I love everything about star trek from original shows to all other TV branched shows. I have been playing MMORPG games for over 30 years now. Like in every MMORPG you have thousands and thousands of content missions before undertaking the main end game content or the option to skip ton of side missions to get to complete the main storyline content. Also raid Content has always been one of the many staples for every MMORPG. I thought this game was no different till I started last year and was able to finish all the episode chapters content in less than a year. Then I was introduced to the pleasure of farming Reputation system, Doffs, R&D, Dill, etc. Farming to help build up fleet was totally awesome experience. The PVE space, land PVE encounters was so much fun I couldn’t wait to do the next one. It was one of the best times like in any mmorpg playing with friends and creating memorial memories of encounters that one will always remember.

With that said, last year was when I started. I started by purchasing Delta Rising Operations Pack, Temporal Special Agent Pack, and subscribing. I only played for 6 months or so. Thats how long it took me to finish all the story episode missions and chapters. I also was able to farm my R&D to 15 and get end game gear. I was very frustrated with the lack of story mission content. I tried the Foundry but it gave me a bad taste in my mouth to do foundry missions. With respect to the players that created them this is a job that developers should be doing not players. Anyway I rather not get into that debate but this year last month precisely I came back again. This was do to a friend puling me back in to play the new content. I said new Content sht of course I’m in. So I purchased Gamma Vanguard Pack. I love it so much I ended up also getting LifeTime Subscription. I was excited to start this new chapter episode and I loved every second of the lore, story that included the Ferengis. Best EPIC Mission Quark’s lucky Seven. The story was extremely well written and I only wished we had more. I couldn’t get enough of “Leck” now thats a ferengi that will warm anyone’s heart. The love he has to Blow sht Up and Backstabbing one for profit. We needed more episodes and missions that are ferengi. This is one of the reasons why I am writing this feedback.

I’m humbling asking for more content. No need to concentrate on creating new ships for same old content/maps. We seriously need a whole UI Makeover. Come out with a brand new expansion that will re install a brand new Startrek online with a new UI Makeover, ability for us to create mods and better macros. Better way for us to see buffs as they stack, shwos timer of buffs and cooldowns etc. StarTrek Online is a MMorpg game and it should be made and offered with with today’s bells and whistles from every other mmorpg game from UIs, macros, etc that is currently out in the market. We need more and more content in a new galaxy. No different from other mmoropgs when an expansion is released it’s a new 1-2 multiple world’s with thousands and thousands of new mission contents to do and explore. Gaining faction reputation for items and gear, that part you have down pack with your reputation system and specialization. However the lack of episode story missions it’s a huge let down for many players and new players that will want to play. Include raids we lack raids in Startrek online compared to the many MMorpgs that are out in the market. PVE 5 man runs are great but we need ability to have 20-40 man raids. The loot system should be altered for these kind of raids. Offer better gear than the crafted reputation gear, as well as the consoles we get from fleet, as well as better than any crafted item as well as any purchased C store ship as well as any lock box ship. That’s how all the mmorpgs are played in raid you raid for chance to win the highest most item if it be console, starship trait, gear weapons etc. We will love to have some serious good PVP action. Some examples capture the mother of Bombs and blow up other teams embassy. Have an all spaceship self-encounter everyone for them self no teams.
Have random buffs all over the place it will buff you stronger or weekened your opponent. Have a team all-out war first team to kill all parties from other team wins (no puzzles).Another one is to have an objective defend 5 numerous locations on random as space dock control room calls it out and other team makes it difficult for you to capture those locations. Reward system make it Dill and lots of marks of choice.

Startrek online has so many divers contents you can expands from. Create a new expansion pack that offers a new galaxy filled with long story lines which can be the liberation of the torment of cardasia, back story of 100 missions or so including some stories from deep space nine. You have about 7 seasons so you can add plenty of new content on that alone for an expansion pack. Also you can look at creating more content revolving current and past season episodes and merging the Borg and Q. Make 50 missions relating to Q asking help from Federation. Our help is needed since the Borg infiltrated Q’s home world. Imagine 100s and 100s of Borg simulated Q’s. Now we know how much of pain Q is in Picard’s you know what now imagine Millions of Borg Simulated Q’s. That is some catastrophic nightmare. You can also add Picard in some of the story mission as an advisor /consultant to help us save Q’s home world. That can be extremely mind blowing (especially for us fans). Keep in mind we need a lot of missions as well as multiple new pve content for each reputation system. For instance Gamma has only one space pve and we should have had more.

Star Trek Online can be better for an 8 year old game. Star trek online should have the same if not more content compared to any new or old mmorpg. I trust next expansion is better and you can include some of my positive feedback will be awesome. I hope I posted this in the right forum section. This covers feedback of the whole game.

Bumping your post was pointless. Spend a bit of time searching the Forums and you will find that most, if not all, of your suggestions have been discussed time after time after time after.....
To make it easy, the developers can only implement game features that the game engine itself will support, and they have done a quite nice job of "tweaking" things to add features that it wasn't truly designed for. A lot of the stuff you want just plain can't be done in STOs game engine. Other things you mention possibly could be done, if Cryptic quadrupled the size of it's design/development team, which they can't, for reasons easily found by spending time in the forums.

Then you need to factor in that the general consensus, at least among the player who actually post in the forums goes something like this..."If you want all that stuff those other MMOs have, go play those other MMOs, don't come in here and try and get them make STO nothing more than a clone of all the other MMOS out there, just with a different skin". Something easily found by spending time reading the forums.

Beyond the obvious fact that the player base is pretty much fans of Star Trek, most of us, at least the ones vocal in the forums, love STO so much because it is different, and not just a clone of every other MMO out there. Something easily found by.....
    LTS and loving it.

PLEASE bring back the classic/original theme music. The Age of Discovery music sounds like an orchestra tuning up. I joined STO because I LOVE Star Trek. I bought the lifetime membership for Star Trek, not this Discovery bull. If people like Discovery, go ahead and play the episodes. But I won't. So at least put back the original theme music.

Now that I found this forum, I have ideas for the developers. Why don't you make a series of episodes where the player chooses a new fate for their vanilla character.

Most of us chose human. So you play the episode where your ship is captured and you or your choice of bridge officers are assimilated, your character (aloe or with bridge officers) free themselves from the collective. Now you continue playing STO as a freed borg. You have new costume options. In combat you can temporarily assimilate a NPC. Or something simple like get access to very rare and unique borg console from a borg ship or base. You now are ignored by borg in all ground combat. Or you can heal faster in ground combat due to your nano tech.

Or you want to improve your vanilla character with klingon abilities, then play the episode where you go back in time and change your fate, and now you're a half klingon. Now you can use on your federation ships, klingon consoles. You are now a stronger human in ground combat. And now as a federation captain, you can visit Qo'nos. Maybe have the option to recruit klingon bridge officers.

Or an episode where you find a dead civilization, as you explore, you are captured and killed, but can be brought back to life as an android. Now you can reboot in combat.

Sorry if this is not the forum for these ideas. I prefer developers read them, then players discuss my posts. I like the idea of making ships more unique for players.

I'd like the developers to give players the ability or purchase the ability to add another tac/Eng/Sci slot to their favorite ships. Think of it as a refit/upgrade.

How about the player buy the ability to customize their ship with parts from all their ships. For example, instead of having a dreadnought with limited customization from other dreadnoughts like Galaxy, Monarch, etc. A ship or ships will be unlocked, and now any part like saucer section/hull/nacelles/etc can be chosen from your fleet of character owned ships. You have a dreadnought with parts from your tactical escort.

I have more ideas, put I'll limit my post to these. Another idea. STO is less like other MMOs. It's less about the combat and story line, and more about making unique characters, and playing them online. But considering the clothing choices, you already know that. But did you know, players get allot of fun making unique bridge officers.

    1. Why can't we have our choice of bridge officer follow us around in starbases? Instead of have only having our pets following us, how about our choice of bridge officers. I have a few I'd like to show off to other players.

    2. How about having a holodeck in the space stations. When we buy or win a ground weapon, instead of going to new romulus for example, and testing the weapon on random combat, just go to a holodeck and try the weapon.

    3. How about having more home worlds like Bajor with unique architecture. So if you want to dress your character in bajoran clothing or get a bajoran bridge officer. Instead of have a bridge office vendor that has many different races, you go to their home world and get it there. Lets say, I want a cardassian bridge officer, go to cardassia. Lets see Ferenginar and how the ferengi live.

    4. Now that you have a Gamma Quadrant, add more home worlds. Also extend the Delta quadrant and also add home worlds.

    5. Ok, You gave us Risa with activities you'd expect in Risa, the vacation planet. Why don't you also create a klingon vacation planet with klingon activities. Have a summer games with klingon games like Targ hunting. Or batlif fighting. You can also extend Risa. What if you find a trans dimensional door in Risa that teleports you to the alternative Risa with the same summer games but alternative mirror image universe style. Surf boards with weapons or surfing on magma. Or flying your jet packs thru dead cities with zombies trying to catch you, rather than the ormal Risa holo courses floating among the mountains.

PLEASE DONT DELETE IF THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT FORUM FOR THESE IDEAS. I just want the developers to read them and make them real.

yes most of those need better rewards for time invested. but the raids are there.

a relativ small dev team can only bring out this much episode content.

the solution is not, make less from this to make more from that

a simple way to start improvement would be we as the playerbase need to bring in more ,new players into the current system more income in more development out ...

    from system aspect

lifetime sub could be made affordable for each currency (lifetimers stay and\or frequently return)

allow foundry to create pvp maps

grinding for better gear is a downer for some, level locked gold gear\ship packs would be a solution
(toons could stay on each level range if the player choices to until they can get the new levels pack ...)

some episodes give good even most have items\sets, each episode could to this

    -- DISCOVERY CHARACTER SPOILERS --

My biggest irk right now is the rather stupid and lazy idea that our DISCO characters are time-displaced, just like in Agents of Yesterday. As much as I disliked it the first time round, it was not a bad concept for the content as a whole as it was just there to fill 'nostalgia' for the original series before setting you back into the 25th Century, inline with the rest of the game.

But the second time round, it's just as I described - stupid and lazy. Here I was, enjoying the story, thinking that Age of Discovery would be a unique experience which would align itself with the show and have future expansions that build around Season 2, 3, etc etc. I mean even in the hype, Cryptic has stated that "this is a landmark event for Star Trek Online as it marks the first time that the game has run in parallel with a live Trek television show". And yet here we are, displaced and sent into the 25th Century - all that Discovery equipment now inaccessible unless you're looking at expensive exchange purchases.

    What was the point?

In another thread, I've stated that I would delete my AoD character depending on what comes in the future, but to be honest, the fact that I now no longer fit in with the era, and never really will, I've already deleted it. I just can't for the life of me enjoy an experience where I'm thrown out of the new experience I thought I was about to embark on.

I just came back to the game I have been away since 2010 pre-order where I played up until level 40 and got involved with something else until now.
I dearly love star trek and the concept and even met one of the people who was helping make the game in the other space mmo I was playing... Won't utter the name here...
After coming from the other game which is a pay to play model and pay more if you want anything good and pay again in 10 min if you dare use it...
Yes some of you will know the game I won't mention, but back on track
First thing I noticed if I played for any length of time at all I ran into choke points where it was either go with out or reach for visa OK so it's free to play sorta. if you want to play for an hour you will be fine.
I have 2 maxed out chr's with in one weeks time both kinda waiting around for things to do to move forward in the game.
But if I reach for visa I can buy my way around some of this real fast but not so cheap the price structure is out of reach for people in some places around the world and high enough to get my wife to yell at me sometimes.
Free to play in other games comes with limits as well but these limits are also put in place on the money spenders that tend to spend well more then what a monthly fee would cost but still must deal with these limitations.
As for content as someone other spoke of... people like to explore strange new worlds and seek out....
    Built them they will come.

    ...

Choke points ? Go without or reach for Visa ? If you want to play for an hour you'll be fine ?

None of that makes any sense whatsoever. I played four characters, on of each Faction/Alignment to max level and then goofed off in STFs and mission re-runs for quite some time before I ever dug out my credit card, and even then it was just to buy a ship I didn't have the patience to "grind" for. Although the Roms have (had?) a couple of missions that were damnged near impossible for e new, inexperienced player, I wouldn't call them a choke point, just an extremely difficult mission, and that's really only in comparison to all the missions previous to those.

The only things I have ever "done without" in this game were things I didn't need at all, but wanted anyway. And any of those can be gotten with nothing more than a little lot of patience (IOW grinding).

And the really puzzling statement "If you want to play for an hour you'll be fine"... what happens after an hour ? Although I don't do it any more, I've played this game for up to 12 hours at a time and I couldn't begin to guess how many thousand of hours of total play time I've logged, and that's a very small drop in the bucket compared to a lot of players. So what is the meaning behind "If you want to play for an hour you'll be fine" ?

Not even going to try and decipher the last three sentences of yours that I quoted as they sound like nothing more than someone attempting to convince people who don't know any better that this game has parts that can't be played without breaking out a credit card, which is about as far from the truth as you can get.

    LTS and loving it.
