Awesome job! Kudos for adding the Star Trek III variant, I have a soft spot for it and definitely will take it for a spin now.
Can you get this guy to work on the K't'inga Battlecruiser? That's another movie era ship in need of some desperate attention!
EDIT:
I can't find the option to use the NX-2000 prototype configuration (I do own both the T5 and T6 versions). Even randomizing over and over didn't yield a result to get the look. Am I dumb or is this a bug?
This sounds awesome, will have to hurry into the game and check this out. My original character is permanently using the ship. With the matching uniform of course. :-)
[ Edit: She looks stunning in space, also renamed to use the NX designation. Nice Work! Sort of missed a quick NX template, just to add a little nitpick. Not criticism per se. There were like three templates up for the Advanced Fleet variant that I use, had to manually select the NX parts. I also have all the other variants of course! ]
[ Edit II: Also the diffferent skins are not cumulative on the Advanced Fleet version, in that I have to use lower tier ships, in order to access all of the variants. This might of course be intentional, but it was a little unexpected in that a cumulative collection would make better sense as a reward for getting all of the ships! I'm personally only going to use the NX version at any rate. So this is a mere reflection of thoughts! Thanks for the effort! ]
I legit thought that we weren't going to see this happen for a long time. I got the Resolute a while ago during a sale. I thought to myself that I might as well go for it since it's not likely to happen. I'm so glad it's finally here.

I'm having similar issues. I own all three tiers of the Excelsior (tiers 3 and 6 I just bought today), and I can only access the NX-2000 Excelsior options on one character. The only thing that makes this character different from my other fed toons is that I have the fleet ship version of the T5 on it. Is the Star Trek III skin only available on the fleet version, because that's not in the article?
Edit: Nevermind, it does say you need the fleet version in the article, I just can't read apparently lol
The picture of three variants side-by-side is slightly incorrect.
Left most model is NX prototype seen Search for Spock. And I have that one today at tier 3. Center model is Excelsior in Undiscovered Country. And should read as NCC. Right most model is the Enterprise-B variant. Which I own at tier 5.
I bought the Resolute today. I don't yet see a Undiscovered Country variant. So that must be the Fleet T5 and T6 costume suggested in the blog?

I looked at the memory alpha page for the model briefly. The left example is actually packing the UC modifications, while the rounder bridge with glowing shuttle bay version was only seen in TSFS.

Quoting myself. I was mistaken about which model was prototype Excelsior. The picture is correct. I ran over to Trekcore to see that I had remembered wrong. The single vs pair of impulse deflection crystals confused me.
So it IS the prototype that unlocks with fleet versions.

You are correct. I had the changes flipped in my mind.
And for the record what I've seen in game is pretty gorgeous. For now I've only borrowed the Resolutions neck for the TUC version.

Love the model revamp, the ship looks gorgeous and matches up well when sitting alongside all the newer ship models and revamps. I'll definitely be taking my Excelsiors out more often now to enjoy their glorious film-quality visuals. Thanks so much for the work done to make these oldies-but-goodies better than ever.
Though it does have a few kinks to get fixed, I noticed. Custom player ship names on the secondary hull are nearly all misplaced, specifically on the sides and on the bottom lip below the open bay. There are also large visible gaps when using Resolute nacelles and saucer with the Excelsior parts. And finally, the Excelsior Ent-B refit saucer's right/starboard side has some slight deformations that don't match up with the rest of the hull. The last is especially noticeable after looking at the two different Excelsior saucers and swapping them back and forth. It appears the starboard side is slightly more narrowed towards the ship's centerline. It's hard to unsee after catching it, unfortunately. This ultimately means one side of the Ent-B saucer is shorter than the other side.
This isn't an issue, but I did notice the pre-Ent-B refit saucers use the details seen in the Voyager episode "Flashback", as far as placement of the phasers on the top-side go. Wasn't sure if that was a nod to that episode or a personal preference, since, as far as I can tell, the placement of the saucer's top-side phasers normally match how they're placed on the Ent-B refit's saucer. This isn't me calling out a perceived issue or nitpicking as much as just being curious as to the visual choice made there, as both variations have appeared at least once in visual canon.
Excellent remodel work! Been waiting for this since I started playing the game!
The only issue I have is a thin blue and red illuminated line above the warp grillwork on the original Excelsior/NX warp nacelles, centered just above where the warp struts connect. It becomes more noticeable as the view is pulled back, so I assume this is a glitch.
Now, if only we can get a realistic interior like the Galaxy and Constitution got....
The current model took away lighting resulting from using the Lukari shield visuals. The U around the bridge, the line around the saucer perimeter, a line from forward to aft on the engineering section, and another near the bottom are all gone now. Just letting you know so you can fix it. Thanks.
The problem is that the ship itself is virtually worthless as anything other than a novelty, due to its horrible BOFF layout.
I actually disagree that it is virtually worthless. I'm shelling out, as an ENG, 40K+ DPS with my Fleet T6 ship. Setting up the ship for DPS requires some strategizing. True, it will not do as much DPS as escorts or other DPS centric ships, but you can get more than enough out of it with the right build.
I gotta say i love the screen acurate skins, i'm using the excel refit skin on me t6 fleet excel. only niggle i have is the fleet logo doesn't get applied when selected in the ship customizer options so no displaying ya fleet colors.
Buying the T5 version if pointless since it comes with no special console, you only really need the T3 and T6 versions for the full console set and the Fleet T6 version for the complete stats.

Yes people can make do with the T5, but overall it's better to get the few I mentioned if you can instead of the T5. I was able to afford the other 3 so I have no need for the T5 version, besides you have to use an FSM and an upgrade token to get it to Fleet T5U which still makes it cost more than getting the T6 and T6 Fleet variants.

With weaponized emitters the Excelsior and Resolute can actually hit like a truck. Then again most people think there is only one build which works.
Both the excelsior and resolute are very nimble ships, have a good staying power and decent tactical boff.
This ship can both sing and dance when used correctly. Maybe it is not as easy to master as other ships due to the heavy engineering, but it is pretty darn good nonetheless.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Into the distance, and into history, we shall never see the likes of her original grace again.
R.I.P Excelsior, thanks for all the fun. =(
Umm.... what?
Someone was smitten with the old model and regrets the remodel.

While you're at it, could you maybe convince someone to switch the ensign engineering station to universal?

She is looking gorgeous, great job.
The NX afaik only has a slight difference in the hull. There should be a “prototype” hull for selection.
I second this. I'd definitely appreciate this change.
For those wondering DS9 refit glowing nacelles are still available.
I can only wonder if this was made possible by the coffin ship update to the engine.
