Fed Hadar T5 Rom Rep unable to claim

pwefailpwefail Member Posts: 197 Arc User
I get the cutscene on beaming down to New Romulus everytime and the only 2 missions i can do are the first 2 that involve watching a recording.
I have the missions in my in progress tab but cannot hail anyone to start, As new rom on the episode tab is greyed out.
Anyone else suffered the same and know of a fix? i'd like to claim my T5 rom rep rewards.
The player formerly known as Chunter.

I have the same thing, the Missions you get from the Romulan Reputation cannot be completed.

I believe the reason for this is due to the fact that these missions are not normally available until you progress far enough in the story line to unlock them. Since I haven't done the first few mission chapters, the missions are not available to me.

The solution would normally be to skip through the previous missions to unlock these, but apparently they can't be skipped which means it's going to take hours of combing through boring old missions just to unlock this. And the 'best' part is.. you won't be able to finish T5 either which means you can't complete the Gamma Recruiting objective for getting all reputations to T5.

This pain in the a@# really should be fixed, but I know it won't be. These missions have been a buggy pile of suck since day 1.

    Tried it, does nothing.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

    I completed the first 2 of the Rom Rep missions fine, But the last 3, shuttle, caves and ruins are all FUBAR! The Rom civilian that gives you the Mountain Base mission doesn't even appear at the site, and I searched the entire area for over an hour, even though he 'Supposed' to appear right next to the transporter.[quote="seaofsorrows;

Yes seaofsorrows, I couldn't agree more. I didn't enjoy them the first time around, on any of my previous 9 toons and thought that when the devs rolled them over into episodes it was just plain LAZY A F.

I just hid the missions in my journal.

I am just hoping that once I complete T5 that it won't actually make me do the final mission with D'Tan to flag as completed. All I am trying to do is unlock the Gamma reward for T5 in all reputations. That SHOULD still work, I just won't be able to get the 32K Dilithium and mark reward for completing the T5 mission.

If that's the case, then I am fine. If I can just complete the Gamma objective then I will just hide the missions (since you can't drop them) and forgo the 32k Dilithium to avoid having to jump through all those hoops.

The New Romulus Missions are the #1 thing I would like to see removed from the story arc. They are an unskippable bug fest that cause nothing but problems.

I've also reached t5 on the romulus rep on the jemmie. This requires a fix.

Did you try picking up the boring run around mission on new Romulus in the tab. I had to complete them. I’m not sure but I couldn’t speak to npc to get them I had to hail them from the episode tab then go report to them. Although my jem isn’t vanguard toon so it could be just an issue with the standard jem

No one on New Romulus will talk to me.

I have completed all the unlocks for the ground transporter, but every time I beam to New Romulus, it plays that horrible unskippable 4 hour cinematic like I have never been there before.

I can approach some of the Romulans and select 'offer to help' missions but they just tell me they have nothing for me at this time.

You need to take these silly side missions to get into the caves and stuff, but the missions are locked because they're not available unless a player has completed all the previous arcs, arcs which are unable to be skipped. I could fix this bug by starting at the beginning and playing all the missions up to and through the New Romulus Arc in order.

I am just not going to do that, and it's ridiculous that we would have to. If they would just let us enter the caves to do the Reputation Missions without also having to pick up these stupid New Romulus side missions at the same time, the whole problem could be avoided.

My guess is though that on a scale from 1 to 10 of how likely they are to fix this.. if 1 is no chance and 10 is a certainty, then I would put the chances somewhere around -5.

Agree with you, at one point I’m not a 100% sure, but the whole point they reworked the episode tab for new Romulus was I think that you were supposed to be able to complete the rep missions with out having to do the whole set of missions before the rom arc. Only way I did it was to hide the rep missions then when I got to the new rom arc I could clear them as I did the silly run around stuff

I talked to the Rom ambassador in ds9 and she started me on the new rom missions. All I have left to do is the underground power station, but I haven't had any problem so far

    Interesting.

There is a Romulan Ambassador in Quinn's office in ESD, I tried that and it had no effect. I didn't know there was an ambassador on DS9, I will give that a try when I can.

    Thank you for the information.

I am not sure how you were able to do it, but this did not work for me.

I have the mission for the Paehhos Caves as well as the Mountain Pass, neither one can be started even after talking to the Ambassador.

Did you play through the previous arcs? I have Klingon War, Yesterdays War, and Wasteland all in front of the Romulan Arc, and all missions are unskippable.

I do have the option to 'Help out in the Paehhos Crater' but when I speak to Nael he just says come back later.

Do you have any of the missions active? The way it worked for me is I could hail the contact via the episode log and the mission was already active, if I tried talking to the contact before I finished they told me to "come back later"

Ok, well today I finally got around to trying to solve this thing, and I was successful in getting it to work. I figured I will post the solution here, because I still see a lot of players having problems with it. There are several threads in this section about it and there were several players asking about this in Zone on New Romulus today.

First a recap of the problem: You are able to complete the first 2 missions given to you in the Romulan Reputation. The first 2 missions are to dig up and watch a recording on New Romulus and the 2nd is to attend a meeting on New Romulus and submit a report. After that, you get 3 more missions, one to access the Mountain Pass, one to go to the Caves, and the final one to enter an underground base and signal D'Tan. These missions cannot be started and you cannot access these areas. The NPC's in the area just tell you that they have 'nothing for you right now,' and every time you beam down to New Romulus you have to watch the same unskippable video over and over again.

    Solution:

The missions you are required to do were added to the Episode listing a while back. There are 2 Romulan arcs in your Mission chain, the first is 'Romulan Mystery,' that one doesn't matter. The one you are looking for is 'New Romulus Aid' which is after the Borg Advance Chain.

Edit: Before progressing, make sure you have completed all 5 Tiers of the Romulan Repuation. You will have the mission for the Caves, the Mountain Pass and the Underground Facility in your journal. If you have not completed the Reputation, then wait until you have before moving forward.

You must have completed the Gamma Missions as a Jem Hadar to open up the ability to replay old missions. Once that is done, start from the first arc and skip the missions. Each Arc will usually have one mission you cannot skip, but it's a quick mission, usually you will just go talk to someone and then you can skip the rest of the missions. Be sure you click skip for each mission.

You will reach a point where you can't skip anymore. At this point, go to the 'Yesterdays War' arc. These missions have to be played and cannot be skipped. There are 4 of them in total. For me, I only saw 3 at first and the 4th one unlocked later. Play these missions and then once complete you should be able to skip your way all the way through Borg Advance to unlock the New Romulus Aid arc.

The first mission in the Arc is called New Romulus Aid. You need to play this mission, but it's easy. You will have to once again watch the horribly acted and badly animated unskippable video (really Cryptic?) and once it's finally done you will have to talk to your representative. For Fed it's the Admiral at the bottom of the Platform, for KDF it's the General standing opposite the Admiral. After talking to them you will have to speak to the foreman on the platform and that will complete the mission New Romulus Aid.

From this point, you can proceed one of two ways. The way I did it was that I opened my journal and skipped every mission all the way through the arc. I then went to the Mountain Pass first, there is an NPC there a 'Romulan Surveyor' that you can talk to and he will give you the mission to enter the Mountain Pass. Alternately, you could probably just hail this mission from your Episode Journal, this is just how I have done it. This Romulan does not have anything over his head showing you he has a mission for you, but if you walk up to him you will have the option to speak to him. He will ask you if you want to access the Pass/Caves and give you a mission that lets you enter.

There are a number of people that insist that the NPC's that give you the missions have been removed. When you talk to one of these people, just ignore them.. they are talking out their backsides. You can still get the missions from the NPC's, you can also get them from the journal. The secret is, you have to play Yesterdays War and skip all the way through Borg Advance to unlock these missions. You also MUST complete New Romulus Aid.

At this point, you should be able to speak to the relevant NPC's in each area and access the Pass, the Caves, and the Underground Base to signal D'Tan completing the Reputation.

I hope that helps anyone that's still stuck.

    No, you don't. I didn't.

The missions become unlocked for the JH when you complete the Gamma Arc (If you are talking about other toons, then the issue is really completing New Romulas Aid, which should pop-up at the appropriate time, as a message for you to go see the Romulan Ambassador at your faction HQ, or DS9 - which as you go on to say below, gives you the access to the episodes. But Rom Rep is another story).

You can actually preempt this by visiting the Ambassador before you are invited to. This is how I managed to get access to the NR storyline with my JH toon, but before completing the Gamma Quadrant arc! :o

Annoyingly, this block on JH toons from accessing other story arcs without completing Gamma, was the case at the time when Tenebris Torquent was the last episode, but when they added Home, they locked again, so you had to complete Home to do the other storylines, even if you had previously got into doing them before Home was put up. But as of now, when you complete all of the Gamma arc, the rest of the stories unlock.
You also MUST complete New Romulus Aid.

At this point, you should be able to speak to the relevant NPC's in each area and access the Pass, the Caves, and the Underground Base to signal D'Tan completing the Reputation.

I hope that helps anyone that's still stuck.

Yes, you must complete New Romulas Aid. But no, you will NOT complete the Rom reputation by taking the missions from the Episodes tab that are also linked to the Romulan Rep. I tried this and it didn't work. You have to take them when they are generated by completing each Tier of the Rep - otherwise you will just do them twice.

The lesson here for JH toons: do the Romulan Reputation before you reach the New Romulas episodes.

The one big thing I would highlight, which I think a lot of people are missing (possibly skipping/ESC past), is that unusual 'submit report' or 'submit video', which you absolutely must do at the end of each of the Rom Rep episodes, including the last one.

I can virtually guarantee that anyone stuck with their Rom Rep because they can't access the Pass or the Caves, or whatever, it is because they failed to submit the report or video at the end of the previous episode.

The real bug with the Rom Rep is that you can finish these episodes whilst skipping this, even though it is essential to progressing your Rep and accessing areas in the next episode - and you don't realise anything is wrong until you can't find the Rom Civilian that is supposed to be giving you your access to the Mountain Pass, or the Caves, etc, in the episode after you missed this. So you think there is a bug in the episode you are stuck on, when strictly speaking, the failure is yours, but in the previous episode, when you skipped past something you needed to do.

And it let you. That's the bug.

If you don't do this submit/signal thing in the last episode, you don't complete the Rep and you don't get your T5 Rep rewards. You'll have to re-do the episode and make sure you click that button next time, otherwise it's back to the start of the episode again.

This was the advice I got from others.. and it doesn't work. I understand that this worked for you, but this did not work for me at all. The Romulan Ambassador was no help to me.

I am sorry if that sounds snippy, but I was frustrated fighting with this because people kept giving me advice that didn't work and this was part of it. It obviously can work if it worked for you.. but this absolutely did not work in my case. The only time you have to talk to the Romulan Ambassador is in the first mission of Borg Advance, you need to talk to the Ambassador to complete the first mission which is not able to be skipped.

I eventually reached a point where I could not skip anymore missions, the Romulan Aid arc would not unlock. I spoke to the Ambassador both on DS9 and ESD, neither did anything. Completing the Yesterday's War arc immediately unlocked it. We could have done any number of things differently up to that point, but either way the Ambassador did not work for me.

This however, is absolutely true and I forgot to list it. I had completed the Romulan Reputation all the way through T5 and then I skipped to the story arc and completed it. As you said, if you did it without completing the reputation first you would have to do it twice. Thank you for that addendum, I have added it to the original post.
