New 31 Character Limit For Character Names

Victory Is Life has apparently limited names to a max of 31 characters. It was previously 32. Amazingly, I have several multicultural characters that do require 32 character names. I'd like them to still feel welcome in the STO community. Is this an arbitrary or necessary change? Will it be restored, or should I start changing my names to accomodate STO's new limitation?
