WHEN are you in Ker'rat???

Oddest thing.

On one hand, I read people saying: PvP is not dead. They are finding action somewhere and having fun. And then, I run into posts from players who want to PvP but say: No one is around to do it.

I know, right now: Tribble is the big attention grabber.
But I had someone in my other post asking about PvP during EU prime time.

So, there is obviously some sort of Comm issue going on in PvP land.
Is chatting to each other not working? Try it here.

So, what TIME are you in Ker'rat???
And which server: Holodeck or Tribble

Ya'll can talk about skill level and gear score and all that jazz yourselves, right?

Let me tell you something about the PVPers from the Ker'rat system. They are ruthless, cunning, diabolical, and just plain mean. If you go in there make sure you cloak before just popping in to say hello. They are the Tusken Raiders of the Star Trek Online Universe. On a serious note though. The players that dwell there are the nicest people if you ask them questions on how to build a good ship. (Just stay cloaked)

Oh, geez...I am not interested in PvP any more.

I don't mind getting killed in Ker'rat if I bother going there....I expect it.

I can't figure out how Discord works, and I have in game chat completely locked down....
Sooooooo.... if you guys want to talk among yourselves, like you already do, be my guest.

I found everything to be true about this post except the sentence I crossed out. I wandered into Ker'rat once for a mission I had and ended up getting camped while getting trolled in chat (and I said nothing in chat to anyone to instigate that) before I finally left and abandoned the mission. Mind you, I was alone using a PvE build not realizing what awaited me in Ker'rat. Regardless, the amount of pre-pubescent egotism and immaturity I encountered there did nothing to impress me or motivate me to want to participate in PvP in this game.

I've PvP'd (even competitively at times) in just about every other MMO I've ever played (e.g. Tabula Rasa, Warhammer Online, EVE Online, RIFT, WoW, SWTOR), except in this game. Considering 90% of this game is PvE centric, PvP seems like an afterthought. I obviously can't speak for everyone here, but it's unsurprising that it isn't more popular - though perhaps it would be if the players doing it were actually more mature about it. Until then, I'll happily avoid that 10% of the game. So to answer the question, 'When are you in Ker'rat?' Never.

I never PvP'ed ever in a video game...but I am pretty sure there were plenty of mis-steps going on in Ker'rat when I visited it over a year, maybe a year and a half ago.

These days, still, not interested in PvP and, of the mind that teamwork, in general, on STO is in deep caca. LOL!

I am not sure if those two things are tied together. But I think they may be.

Never. PvPers tend to be ppl that think their TRIBBLE size is defined by their dps. And I've long since gotten sick of the kind of ppl that live under the rocks that make up PvP. Before I even started playing STO. Listening to them act like heros for pouncing ppl trying to learn to play here just iced the cake of contempt I have for them generally. Add in the laughable imbalance this game has and the utter lack of give a damn the devs have about it and it adds up to why bother.

It sounds like most of the people here who don't like going to Ker'rat system have a hair across their butt. I have been playing this game for 9 years. I have gone in there asking questions and I have gotten good advice. Sometimes you have to be a target to get your questions answered.

It is also about learning to read your opponent’s actions and learning to adapt to different challenges that they throw out at you.

It’s about learning to overcome challenges you face and being creative. DPS is not everything. Example if you have a nice tank setup you can randomly hit reverse polarity while a heavy dpser attacks you. They will probably not attack you so blatantly after they get a good feedback reaction.

I enjoy Kerrat greatly especially at end game as it can provide you with a never ending experience.

I regularly go to Kerrat . This is because I enjoy coming to the defense / rescue of allied players and to help provide a respectful and honorable response to the troll types.

Some think respect is given, or just earned. But honestly for those people that don’t understand.

Respect and honor must be taught through examples and random small acts of kindness.

If they don’t understand what honor and respect is on their own. They will take time to understand what it is when they see it. They will eventually get it. Even if they don’t admit it right away. Years away likely for a few.

This comes down to an exercise in patience for those of us that still have honor/respect and understand what honor is. Those troll types are nothing more than practice for us to keep learning our way to getting better patience ourselves.

If those people don’t see honorable people that are as stubborn as them. They will never have enough examples to learn honor or respect for themselves.

Funny thing...PvP is about everything BUT the DPS. A player ship has what, 100k HP at the most and maybe 40k shield. Most none idiot ships will do that in a second or less. What PvP is about is defense and disables.
Fully agree that PvP is everything but DPS. Just about everyone that I know who does PvP strips off the PvE DPS gear. Though 100k at most wasn't right when I did PvP a few months back. It was more like 100k minimum even on Escorts with many people running into the 300k+ HP bracket. Not really sure why PvE people don't do it. Its so effective I use the same PvP tanking builds in PvE on Elite.

For those that are unware one trick to surviving in PvP is to take Hull Image Refractors and as many Colony Tactical consoles as you can get away with. Add in a few other method that let temp HP stack up mega fast. Its takes seconds to build up over 100k temp hitpoints or even 200k on top of your base hitpoints along side that you get large amounts of hull healing for free.

I am often in Kerrat on holodeck around about 1300-1400hrs central time. Depending on if my wife is working and if I am not working that day. I work 12hr shifts every 2 days and 2 days off. Have every other weekend off. Again scheduling is difficult to do for a game while family responsibilities will always take my priority.
