Work Around?

Hey guys, since I can't afford my own internet, I have to rely on public connections. I can play STO at my local library, but some days, the library is closed. The local university has a Student Union that is open to the public as well, but their internet blocks any game from being played. (even cell phone games are blocked) Is there a work around so that I can play STO when I'm not able to use the library connection? Apparently I'm not the only person with this issue since it seems to be a recurring theme at campuses across the US, possibly the world. [Before anyone mentions going elsewhere, I am obliged to tell you, I'm currently hauling around a 27" All-In-One, not a laptop. The computer was a gift from the wife about a year ago]

No, STO requires an internet connection. There is no offline mode.

(Older games like Star Trek Legacy might be more your bag, they offer Star Trek themed starship combat but in the context of a classic single player/multiplayer/bot match game. I'm not sure what outlets would have it now, or how they work on newer versions of windows, but it's an option to look into.)

Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!

I know there is no offline mode. I'm just trying to see if some tech heads have figured out how to bypass a university's block on packet sending? That is what I believe they're doing. They have a filter in place to block packets, hence the reason I can't play STO or even something as simple as Hill Climb Racing 2 on my cellphone. Both types use packets to deliver info back and forth between servers. IF there were some protocol, or maybe even a proxy I can use to get around and play STO it'd be helpful.

If you have a VPN, then you could probably play at the Student Union. Of course, if you get caught playing there, well, you know the rules.

i hear there is a program for us cell phones, that allows you to use cell connection max. monthly gb limit, more than its intended limit. what I understand was. for phone internet use it is limitless but cell connection to comp. has a limit. so that prog. acts like using internet for the phone ...

i wouldn't if i were you, it would be tampering with private property, you would be liable for any damages. worse, you could be barred from the university if discovered trying to get around the security and putting your play time on their wallet.

you might need to find another way to get a connection.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Can you get a part-time job either off-campus or with the university? When I was a comp sci student I worked in one of the computer labs helping students debug their code, and also did a little tutoring on the side.

Seriously? Soliciting the community about bypassing a university's network security?
