k13 officer is screaming in pain

fruitvendor12fruitvendor12 Member Posts: 615 Arc User
This is just sloppy stuff folks. K13 has been out for how many months? The officer in charge of all useful functions is sunk halfway into her chair and her legs below the floor. It's become a joke in our fleet, but when I hear the STO team in interviews they say they solve trivial bugs immediately. But they do not. Please fix this silly absurd graphical bug that makes us roll our eyes.

Did you ever think that by "trivial bugs" they meant ones that were relatively easy to fix, so the fix meant a trivial amount of effort ? And not "trival" as in how much it affects game play ? Characters being sunk into features/landscapes is common and widespread, and long standing. enough so that one would think that if were an easy fix it would have been fixed long, long ago.

Logic dictates that "trivial bugs" as far as how it affects game play would not be an immediate fix priority. Whereas a "trivial bug" as far as what it will take to fix it, would get prompt attention. "Hey Joe, while you're in there change that 0 to a 1 in line 23,456 of the code would ya ?" makes a lot more sense than "okay team, I know the game is almost totally unplayable right now because all map transitions are hanging up but everyone needs to focus on getting that character out of the floor in K13".

OMG...that title had me cringing. Wow! What a picture you placed in my head.

While it's fairly "trivial to see what's wrong", the sit node collision for the TOS chair is misplaced, we don't know why it's misplaced or more accurately we don't know what's causing it to be misplaced and considering the fact it's not been fixed Cryptic doesn't seem to know that either.

As Arionisa said "trivial" does mean "easy and simple to fix" but rather "mostly a minor cosmetic issue that doesn't affect gameplay that much". Thus this bug is a low priority, sure if someone figures out how it's fixed it will be fixed but fixing in it is very low on the "things that need to be done" list for Cryptic.

It's not sloppy it's just the reality of Cryptic having limited resources and having to give things priorities.

Or can you tell me why the collision is misplaced (it was there but is gone now) and more importantly how to fix it?

Folks I have been doing mesh programming since the Amiga. I'm very familiar with what is involved. It literally is a fifteen minute fix - MAX. Stop it already. Cryptic is not going to buy you an ice cream cone of smooth whip for defending this kind of sloppiness. I get it - some of you have jobs you hate and give you no sense of pride.

As a rule graphical artists really and truly love what they do. They like to see their work appreciated or they'd be flipping burgers.

As a general rule, resorting to insults says a lot about the person doing it, and says nothing about the people it was directed to. Anyway, with your obvious genius when it comes to such things...check out the center column.
