Looking for Klingon Foundry Missions...for Endeavor

Anyone else do a Foundry Mission on the KDF side, this weekend??
Will gladly take recommendations. Klingon missions only, please.

"Rakajino in a Jar" over at Ganalda Station.

I been flying by this mission, at least 20 times a day, for years (?) now. I don't know....how long ago the Devs decided to place those Foundry Mission Spotlights out there in Sector Space? Years? Right?

I finally paused and clicked on it today.
Because of the Endeavor that is running over the weekend: Complete a Foundry Mission.

I liked it!!! And the maps were pretty! I took pics.
I wanted to run/fly around exploring the locations for a while. Maybe next time....
It was simple....but the story was actually a story.

Not everything has to be complicated and intertwined with entire universe of cast and character.....like Cryptic has to do for "The Alliance", after all.

I can understand keeping things simple for a Foundry mission because I have tried figuring it out before. Shoot, I think I even spent some Dil for extra mission slots...because I was that confident about making content. What a HOOT that idea was! LOL!

But it was over my head no matter how many of those tutorials I watched on You Tube. Just did not understand how to put it together. I gave up.

Next time, I run into one of these Spotlights while doffing or Omega farming...
I think I will go ahead and make a note of it. Block out some time.

Completed my Endeavor this weekend: Couple of boxes totalling 200,000EC, 1000Dil, Purple R&D.

Wow....they removed the wrapper mission for the Foundry two years ago? Geez.
Shows ya how long ago it has been since I have done Foundry missions, though.

Here is a list I made about two years ago. Twenty five KDF Foundry Missions in no particular order. These were selected for their story and "Klingon-ness". Since some of the best Star Trek episodes have a large amount of humor in them, the list is slightly skewed towards those Foundry missions which also feature humor. I was surprised how many are or have been Spotlight Missions when I began looking back for missions to put in the list.

The best Foundry Missions are those created by Star Trek fans for Star Trek fans. I probably spend more time playing Foundry Missions in between Featured Events than I do anything else. Decent loot. Dilithium. Specialization Points. And no repeating the same mission over and over again. What more could a true warrior ask for? I hope you enjoy these as much as I have.

Without further preamble or hype, here is the list.

    Crouching Ty'Gkor Hidden Demon
    Devil's Devout
    Diplomacy in the Gamma Quadrant
    Federation Desperation
    Future Shock
    Grapok In The General's Lung
    HA01 - Stolen Property
    Hero of the Empire
    Honor of Ferasa
    Honor of the Empire
    Honor of Orions
    Infiltration Point
    Into the Nightmare
    Krios Falling
    Raktajino In A Jar
    Stray Dogs
    Tempus Fugit
    Terrors of the Past
    The Chimes At Midnight
    The Computer's Son
The Fire In Which We Burn
    The Honor Of Profit
    The Hunter Killer
    The Prisoner
    Time The Enemy
    Time Will Tell
    Talking to Old Soldiers
    Vulture Wheel

Some of these Missions will appear in the Mission Select List after the Browse All button is highlighted. Within the Browse All Window, one can select to Search by one of four categories. If the one you are looking for does not appear, pick the Custom Search Option and type the name into the Title Box. This should bring the Mission up and from there, it is just like playing one of the Featured Episodes. Please make sure you read ALL of the Author's text in the window on the right. Very useful information there which should improve the quality of play for you.

    Thanks for doing this!

There are some really nice Klingon themed missions for people like me that want to experience that flavor of storytelling the foundry is a great venue to get the fix.

I will try to get back into the frame of mind to re-write a review on Krios Falling later today. I will never be able to recreate what I originally wrote. LOL!

I am an idiot...I know editing means possibly losing a post....but I did it, anyways.

@thunderfoot006 Thanks for the list...that should be plenty to keep me busy for a long time. :)

I wasn't going to do any more with this post....but in the other thread about Foundry and tipping, the authors said they want to hear from people who do their missions.

I thought, maybe, maybe the missing piece was: someone actually talking about them.

I think most people are READING the Forums....but not talking because....well...
Let's face it....the atmosphere here is pretty toxic.

Especially, for CASUAL players, like me, and PvPers. Players need to know: not everyone subscribes to the chat channels.

Indeed. I usually scroll through the reviews on a Foundry Mission. And immediately regret doing so every time. Unless the mission rewards an enormous pile of Dilithium or loot in twenty seconds or less, the majority of the reviewers get very nasty very quickly. Even worse when English is not the author's native language and there are grammar or spelling errors. I have a couple of Foundry projects I've been tinkering with on and off for about three years now. I see no good reason to publish them considering the reception most Foundry missions get from players who can be bothered to write something. I think I'd rather someone not write anything at all than post what passes for reviews in the majority of cases.

    Been busy, guys...sorry.

At this point...I am going to hold off on writing a review for Krios Falling .

But that is a good thing, I had part of a building not load properly. I want to see if that happens, again. That way I can report if it was just some sort of glitch...or happens consistently.

Besides, I have to be in the right frame of mind.... I will compose it in my blogger, this time, so I have someplace OFF SITE to save it. LOL!

So, I took some screen shots while wandering around "Rakajino in a Jar" to share.

    Ground....from Rakajino in a Jar

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now, these locations were new to me and looked fantastic. And that is why I collected screen shots of them. I do not know if they were rehashed from some locations used elsewhere by Cryptic. Shoot. For all I know...these could be maps for PvP or something. LOL!

I will try to take better notes of locations inside the mission next time.
And I have no clue why these pictures turn out so gigantic in the forums.
Can image tags be used in here? :(

I do not know how much Foundry Authors can edit the look of a "map", either.
    Maybe @duncanidaho11 can enlighten.

I'm not duncan but I can say that we can edit the look of the map in quite a limited fashion but what we can do can have drastically different looks. Something as simple as switching to different (pre-made) backdrop (and the attached ambient lighting) can change the look and feel of a map into to something totally different, say for example switch from sunny noon sky into a misty overcast backdrop and the feel of the map changes into something totally different without changing anything else on the map. That's for both ground and space though we have a bit more control over the space backdrops.

I can't wait to find a bit of time to get back in Rakajino in a Jar and wander around those two "environments" just to explore them. :)

Well....I have time tonight to run Krios Falling.... But I prefer to go for my walk and see if I can spy the full moon, instead. So....maybe later tonight or tomorrow. I want to do one of these before the weekend is over.

Unfortunately, next week is full of appointments.

The list I posted previously is a few years old. So I probably need to spend a month or so diving back into the Foundry daily to find some of the newer missions to add to it. Thanks for this thread! I was wondering what to do to keep me engaged in this game until the next expansion comes out.

Question: Chit chatting with my friend who is playing in the Foundry, lately.....he is making his character a house on the beach. I am looking at the screen shots.....the water and it is gray...not blue. Could the problem with his beach BE the lighting? How does he get the water look like, well, like water??

This past weekend, I ran through Krios Falling with my Ferasan/Eng. For the second time, so I could make sure things were fresh in my mind when I re-wrote the review.

Note: I am not picking the Foundry missions via search... I am just writing down the titles as I fly by systems while doing other things around sector space. I believe these missions are in the Top Rated listing under "Browse All" in the Foundry tab of the Mission window "J".

I am finding that I enjoy the missions I have run into because they are focused on a shorter story. Instead of being one part of a continuing, serialized one. I think I will avoid missions that have multiple episodes to them. See how it goes.

    Krios Falling....at Donatu V.

Things went smoother for me this second go round, since I was familiar with the dialog, actions and direction I needed to go on the map. The first time I did it, it took me about an hour and a half, reading everything very carefully. I forgot to time myself this second round. But pretty sure it was much faster. LOL!

Those of you who do not like reading, don't worry. This author has structured the mission so you don't have to. I did, because I like to read. All the "heavy reading" contained the background story about Krios and the people and their history. I liked the flavor it added to complete the story.

Now, my Ferasan is still using his Kor BoP. And I find I am a bit spoiled by the higher hull (and I am sure the speed/defense) on the Pilot Raptors I been riding around in on my Mains. He got picked off in space by the Federation Escort. That was surprising.

The second time it happened, I realized, OK I am getting lazy in my game here.
Hello...don't you remember RSP and MW button, lazy lady. LOL! And that took care of that.

Space battle was straight forward....but short. No complaints there, since the crux of the story is on the ground.

The ground portion of the mission was laid out beautifully. I knew where to go....except for once when I was supposed to call in an airstrike. The mission was constantly moving. My Captain was constantly interacting... constantly busy... constantly solving the puzzle. The story evolving in a way that all made sense and everything came together at the end.

Note: if you would like a challenge...bum rush head long into the Manor front and center. You will engage all the Security in the joint at once. That is the way I did it the first time...it was pretty exciting but a bit too much for me. I figure those of you who are set up for ground combat may prefer that. Otherwise, follow along with the mission and go around to the beach.

The author did a great job on the story. I am glad I did this mission.
Screen shots have already been posted.

    To search in the Foundry:
    Title: Krios Falling
    Author: Alien_de_jour <--underscores not spaces

Hmmm...it is interesting how out of practice I became with flying BoPs with only 8-9 months flying Pilot Raptors. Pilot Raptors is "easy" mode.

Yup..finish mastery on those and move back to Kor.

well most water in the foundry maps in shallow, only maps I know to have actually grey water (well grey/green to be exact) are the swamp maps. it could be that water simply isn't deep enough to appear blue which means to make to blue you need to add depth (aka you use the water assets).

oh and New rom water is "naturally" purple don't use that one.

there's "water volume" assets that allow you to create deeper body of water is set higher then the orginal water level it can be a bit tricky to use those but they work.

Spent a little bit of extra time looking closer at the missions that pop up in sector space last night while doffing. Looked them up in the search and all.

It turns out some of them are parts and pieces of a series....and it makes no sense to do Part 2 but skip Parts 1 and 3. Some missions are just straight up combat...which I am not looking for.

I will be updating my post with the missions listed on there, over the weekend when I have more time.

    +++++++++++++++++++

The star rating system used in the Foundry missions is just bizarre. Not very informative. And hit or miss on search using Authors names, sometimes it would work when the entire window was closed and brought back up...other times not at all.

Can not select any of the radial buttons other than Story and Space (I think)...because anything lower down in that list, my mouse would click through to the missions list underneath...activating a mission. LOL!

I may be making a more detailed bug report on this, also, over the weekend when I have more time.

    +++++++++++++++++++

And speaking of culture shock for me....

Foundry has missions where I get to take my full contingent of BOFFs. And a lot of the stories take place on Ground maps. And they tend to be much more challenging for me than the Feature Episodes Cryptic comes out with.

And I have to admit been rather lackadaisical about keeping all my BOFFs and their gear up to speed. So, need to get it together on outfitting them.

I did notice there are still some BOFF Grinders in the Foundry. I will have to run those a few times, too. Make sure they are all still in sync with each other...it has been so long since I bothered to check that.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone. :)

Anyhoo....was not expecting all my time being taken up with "other things" when I started all this a couple of months ago. I have not had any time to spend on doing Foundry Missions.

Though I did clown around with that "Custom Search Box" in the Foundry Mission Journal window. Egads.
You can read my book reports over in the Bug Reports part of the Forum, if you really care.

I WILL pass along this bit of news I got from my friend creating the mission in the Foundry for the first time....
HE is done and has his mission up for review. The one where he was going to add a Klingon in it for me (...or maybe I told him to add a Klingon or I wouldn't do it?) He tells me he used a specialized Klingon bridge he made himself. I guess, that counts. At least, he has me curious enough to call it up on my Ferengi. LOL!

I hang my head in shame that I still have not found the time to run it, myself....this weekend. :(

It is a Fed side Mission dust off your Alt-Fed to check it out...if you want to.
Do not tell me what the Klingon stuff looks like, yet.

It is called : A New Beginning
    Author is: foreignbureau#1794
Time: 15-25 mins. (Very short since he was testing it out, you know)

I found time to check out the KDF mission in the Foundry Spotlight. :) I just finished it up.
    It was awesome! :)

Time Will Tell by XR-377 @designationxr377

Ran this one with my Engineer Level 60 in one of her Pilot Raptors.

The story is great. There was a surprise around every corner...really kept me engaged as it unfolded. Loved reading all the variations on the dialog, even had a set in there for KDF/Roms...nice touch. :) It felt like: Hey, my Captain is getting to make a decision! Cool. :)

Mission was easy to follow and kept me occupied the entire time.
Just the right amount of combat for me. I believe if you wanted you may be able to chase down more combatants. First time running this mission...so I did not wander around the maps very much and followed the story.

Glad you enjoyed it, even more glad to see the influx of smiley faces in the post.

Just gotta say, you're right when you said many foundry authors tend to keep quiet, but we also tend to loom. I've enjoyed this thread you made. A lot of foundry authors have been around "for-ev-ur" and we forget sometimes what it looks like from the outside for someone first coming in to see it. I for one have liked following your journey. Have fun with the custom search block, you find some authors you like and use that and you'll always find content to play.
