Except that the price might be comparable to buying a Lockbox ship or Promo ship instead of only costing about 30 million or whatever Fleet ships sold for years ago. So unless you belong to a Fleet with a Tier 5 Colony and want to get it ASAP, then in addition to the 20,000 Fleet Credits and 5 Fleet Ship Modules, it will cost a ton of EC.

So some might just bite the bullet and get it from one of those greedy Fleets instead of waiting for NoPPS.

I know of one fleet on NoPPS that has already started their final upgrades on the colony. I am also not aware of this "restriction to when fleet ships are available" you speak of. I have been on NoPPS for years and have gotten many fleet ships from various fleets generosity. I have done this at no particular time of day nor any particular day of the week. The only "restriction" I know of is that the person doing the invites from a given fleet might not be online.

How is it possible for a Fleet to have started their final upgrades on the colony when it requires 250,000 XP to get to Tier 5? If you mean they have started the long and arduous journey of getting from Tier 4 to Tier 5, then it is understandable. To get one of these Fleet ships, then there needs to be enough Ship provisions in the NoPPS Fleet. There have been numerous times that these Fleets didn't have enough Ship provisions in their Fleet or not enough room to temporary invite someone to give people access to buy the ship. Giving access to a Fleet ship is far more difficult for the NoPPS Fleet than getting the other Fleet equipment. After all, they have to make sure that there is room in the Fleet for someone to temporarily join the Fleet, make sure that there is enough Ship provisions are available, and remember to kick out the person so that the next person can get a ship. If they have a full and active fleet, then there is no room to invite temporary fleet members to obtain the ship.

Here I was, thinking Fleet ships are one of the things you CAN'T get from another Fleet: you need to actually join their Fleet first, for that.

IMO this is a great enticement for those fleets that are actually working on the fleet colony. My armada is huge but we are working TOGETHER to get this done. This is a plus since we are getting to know other folks in our armada. I know it is a huge grind but when done with others it is so much fun.

I also understand the viewpoint of the solo or smaller fleets. My advice is join an armada that can do this with you. However, from my end ... yeah THANKS Devs as well.

    > I find it disapointing that Cryptic decided to put a ship behind the Fleet-wall. yes there are fleet ships but at least there is a C-store version of said ship. thi is a ship that many people will never get, because they don't want to deal with the bullsqueeze of fleets

There are several ships that have Fleet versions and no C-Store version. The Obelisk carrier, the Chimera, Ambassador, this is nothing different.

O Carrier was an event ship, you can get the base model from the shipyard with I think 1 mod. or skip to the fleet version directly. <- some toons have this in drydock, the newer toons made after event do not.

Chimera is Vet reward. <- ship in shipyard since I have lifetime.

Ambassador anniversary/episode reward and giveaway. Maybe they will giveaway again in future? /shurg <-btw this T5 ship is in my zen store since I got it during the previous giveaway.

any other ship that is in fleet without being in zen store?

They should put the command assault cruiser in fleet since WizKids arent offering the ship anymore.

No I meant exactly what I said. The fleet owner in question, who I cannot name here because forum rules, stated that he had just started the final upgrades on the colony, not T4, how he got to that I don't know but in the years I have been on NoPPS that fleet has finished every holding first.

Color me surprised. Somebody in great length offered calculations of how quickly you can get there if you are able to fill all requirements without loss of time, and I think it was 240 days, so 8 months, give or take. We are not that far yet, are we? So there must have been an error in said calculation, or I remember it wrongly.
I really know a lot of players in game and this place here in STO forums seems to be the only one where peeps turn up from time to time that are actually “happy” with the colony fleet holding as such. For all the rest it is a really bad release.

I know maybe less than you, and "happy" isn't the correct word, but I know people who think it looks nice and fill in every now and then to slowly progress. I guess the expectation of being able to fill it asap is what makes people unhappy if they cannot do so.

What part of I've been on NoPPS for years and gotten many fleet ships from NoPPS fleets is difficult to understand?

The part where you've gotten many fleet ships from NoPPS fleets. :P Seriously, way I've always understood things, the one thing you CAN'T get, via a Fleet map invite, is Fleet ships. Did they make some drastic changes?!

The way I understood it, you can get the ships from the Fleet that has unlocked access, but you use your own Fleet's provisions to obtain it.

That goes for most other items, yes; but I thought Fleet ships were excluded from that deal (unless you actually join their Fleet first).

You do change fleets for ships, the procedure is, make sure you can get back into your current fleet. Whether thats having another of your characters in the fleet to invite you back or arranging it with a fleetmate who can. Then you leave the fleet, get an invite to another fleet where you can buy the ship, the fleets on NoPPS that do this will not ask you to pay them for this in any way, other than what the fleet store charges (ie Fleet Credits & FSMs) for the ship itself. After you get your ship you leave the inviter fleet and return to your old one.

Thx for the confirmation that you need to join the other Fleet first. I thought maybe I was getting crazy. :) (Still possible, btw, but not over this)

We are at about 120 days after the Fleet Colony became available. If a Fleet is focusing on just upgrading Morale, Infrastructure, or Renewable Resources to Tier 5 ASAP, then it would take a minimum of 176 days. That is with doing the 1000 XP and 500 XP projects every 20 hours. However, it is not possible to be on the final upgrades for the colony without using some bug or exploit. Of course, it is a completely different story if it is on Tribble. So either their Fleet is bugged, they used an exploit, or there was a misunderstanding and they are between 100,000 XP and 250,000 XP. The misunderstanding makes far more sense since it doesn't violate the 20 hour cooldown rule.

What part of I've been on NoPPS for years and gotten many fleet ships from NoPPS fleets is difficult to understand? I have never had or seen anyone else have any difficulty getting an invite for a fleet ship for any of the reasons you describe. Most of the time I have an invite to get my ship in less than 5 minutes, unless nobody with the proper access is online from any of the many fleets that do this, but with the sheer number of fleets involved that basically never happens. I have even gotten invites when I was just asking what tier unlocked a ship. All this dramatics you present has not once been an issue on NoPPS.

I haven't been on NoPPS for at least a year, but I remember a bunch of people asking for Fleet ships and being refused. Of course, it might be dependent on the Fleet since it doesn't cost anything, but time for a Fleet Map Invite, but it costs resources and space for a Fleet Invite. Each Fleet has to support their Fleet members first before giving the privilege to non-Fleet members access to Fleet ships. So there might be certain rules that a NoPPS Fleet has that need to be satisfied to give out Fleet ships like 50 Fleet Ship provisions and enough room to support inviting a temporary Fleet member. It is possible that a couple of temporary Fleet members can take a Fleet's supply of Fleet ship provisions since there is no way to limit how many they use as long as they have enough Fleet Credits and Fleet Ship Modules.

I like that the design is another runner up from that design contest. It's also one of my favourite designs from that contest. :p
