Magic still exists in this ‘verse due to a multiverse wide magic field that originated at the center. It was created in the 22nd century by a group of powerful magicians who used a powerful artifact created by a mage in the same era. The field disabled most scientific equipment used during this era. Starfleet had to make starships capable of using mana as an energy source.
Magic soon became a learnable ability after the field was created. It was a required subject at Starfleet Academy. The starships had a magic core capable of using it to travel at FTL speeds. Magic was also used to power starship weapons and spells. That explains the various energy types seen in the game. The Federation Council signed the Magic Act into law which gave all officers and allies permission to use magic. The rest of the alien species learned to use magic.
Pokemon, hybrids, and dragons are natural magicians. They are born with the ability to do so. The Pokemon Council is allied with the Federation, Romulan Republic, High Order of Dragons, and the werewolves. It has starships based on Federation tech. The Pokeverse’s advanced biotech allows it to modify its ships to use magical equipment. The High Order has ships from the Kelvin Timeline, Krenim, Starfleet, and Tholians. Saria and Galaron authorize the construction of Dragonblade class science dreadnoughts to match Starfleet’s dreadnoughts.
The werewolves are also capable of using magic, but it is limited to transformation. They can shift between their human and wolf forms voluntarily, but can lose control if not given a special serum produced from the nectar of a special wolfsbane plant. The pack has a special shipyard connected to Starbase 34 for their ships. The leaders are known for their ability to summon their pack via howling.
The current President of the UFP is a dragon named DragonKnight or Knight for short. He replaced Okeg on May 25, 2410 after the Nirn incident in the previous month. DragonKnight passed the Royal Act which gave officers from royal and noble families special perks. They can control entire fleets of ships without the approval of the captains. Admiral Janeway is the head of the Coffee Division. She makes it illegal to ban coffee in the Federation. Janeway commands a modified Borg Diamond.
The Gorn are not part of the KDF since they choose not to join them. They choose to ally with their biological ancestors, AKA, dragons. The KDF decides to leave them alone. The High Order of Dragons chooses to ally with the Gorn. King Slathis is granted a special seat in the Council.
The Magicians’ War is fought in 2410. The Iconian Empire invades the Milky Way Galaxy with their Herald servants. The Alliance sends its best magicians to fight them. The Iconians attack the Romulans, but they are pushed back by Alliance forces. Some Herald magicians begin to attack the Preserver archive. They destroy it leaving the Alliance with little information about their society. The Heralds soon begin to push towards the Alliance systems until the Krenim arrive. M’Tara dies in the Battle of the Herald Sphere which leaves T’Ket as the new leader. She swears revenge on the Alliance, but L’Miren signs a peace treaty with them ending the war.
Species:
Humans (H. sapiens)- A mammalian species from Earth. They serve as pets/servants to Pokemon, Pokehybrids and anthropomorphic animals in the Federation Starfleet. Some humans command Federation ships due to their “independent” status.
Anthropomorphic animals- One of the founding members of the Federation. The anthros are humanoid versions of Terran animals with human level intelligence.

Then, you decide, that since you have all the Breen ships and don't give a damn about the others, you exchange it for an ultra rare, and grab yourself a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship and for the hell of it, a Voth Bulwark. You open both, leaving the Bulwark in your vast masses of starships as you jump into the bugship and deck it out, deck by deck, into the most awesome Jem'Hadar ship you can. You fly it. You enjoy it. Eventually, you get bored and leave, leaving the old Bulwark never flown... until later. Your main is long complete. Your new alt main, based off some character you pulled out of nothing just to explain away some starship being in service without the command of your dear admiral, is also complete. Mostly. Their reps and doffs are hard at work, getting you stuff. You realize the potential, and head back for your dear admiral, pull the most Voth themed build you can out of thin air, and suit up in your giant ship in the shape of you know what. You head out... and cause all sorts of havoc. Enemies scream out your name as their very life is drained away by your swarms of Aceton Assimilators. They complain to the devs of your OPness when you revive yourself from death every time you die. Do you show any form of mercy? No. After all, this isn't the United Federation of Planets, this is mother frakkin' Starfleet, where you explore strange new worlds and kick butt never kicked before.
