Well for Canon ships they just change the specialization seating, among a few other changes to the none lockbox versions. Plus they create some completely new Dominion Ships, like a Veteran Destroyer, maybe a Flagship type cruiser and so on.
Also remember that the T6 dominion lock box type ships are versions actually built by the Alliance based on T5 originals salvaged from the Alpha Quadrant, who knows how Dominion technology has evolved in the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion Ships could have an entirely new machanic to them, that only Dominion ships get, say Victory is Life, the way only true Romulan Republic ships get Singularity Cores and Singularity powers.

This all sounds nice but it doesn't make any sense when you consider what Cryptic have said in the past.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
I'm surprised that so few people think that there would will be a new faction.
I don't see them missing this opportunity to give us a Dominion or Cardassian Faction.
I can; we want it too much. Look at the track record; Romulans (half-faction, some say), WoK outfits (massive Dilithium prices), cat and dog Noncombat pets (randomized), ability to change modifiers (slot machine. Woo! Viva STO Vegas! ...sorry, had a silly moment there...)
People don't want to want things like a new faction because they've reached the point of being afraid of what form it would take if they actually got it.

They said they are willing do Dominion and Cardassian factions, a bit not as fleshed out as the Romulan Republic.
I'm with silverlobes on the 'Ironman' option. I don't come onto a game to lose all my hard-earned stuffs because I happen to die. If they can implement it as a choice that didn't affect everyone, I'd be for it. IF they could keep it from affecting everyone, and yes, it can accidentally affect everyone.
I know there are some hardcore players who want to test themselves like that, I'm just not one of them. Let me have my Barbie/RP fun and you go play Ironman mode.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
We'll see. The Victory is Life that's been going around sounds like our time there will be more than just with a shuttle.
Personally, I'm expecting the story to be that the Hur'q are the 'original' Solids fought and feared by the Founders 2000 years ago, they retreated through the wormhole, tried to conquer this side and lost to the Klingons, so they went into hibernation, the attack on Bajor was to secure the wormhole for their re-conquest of the Gamma quadrant and we'll be teaming up with the Dominion and the New Link to fight the Hur'q, resulting in the new relationship between the Dominion and the Alliance as seen in STO: "Time and Tide" where the Dominion is implied to be part of the Galactic Union in a few centuries...
We'll see how good my guesses are later this year...

I can’t help but be pessimistic. I’m only reinforced by the Romulans not getting jack in this last lockbox. Sure there probably isn’t any mention of the Romulans in Discovery (don’t watch the show), but you would think Cryptic would have 100% leeway in creative design then. I think they’re going to replicate the Delta quadrant and arc. It all boils down to a “formula.” Music, movies, books, plays, reboots...all driven these days by formula.
It's pretty simple. If you win a queue you'll be allowed to continue. If you lose you'll have to start from scratch with a new character
Joke aside, this game could use the possibility to fail, not just in queues but missions as well. I'd love to have some kind of "ironman" mode where dying would have serious repercussions (and costs).
Am I looking forward to it? No, not really. I think it's too little too late right now. I do find it humorous somewhat why everyone (well, okay, some people) suddenly seems to be under the impression that a Dominion Expansion translates as a Dominion Faction. It doesn't, and it wont.
We had a Delta Quadrant expansion, yet we didn't suddenly end up with a Borg, Ocampa or Kazon faction, did we? No. We got some playable characters (Talaxian), some Boffs (Kobali) and some more Lock Box ships in addition to more objectives, another reputation grind-system and a fleet holding. This Gamma Expansion will be very similar. My predictions;
* Playable Cardassians for Lifetime members (to reflect the Talaxian)
* Jem Hadar (and/or) Vorta Bridge Officers (to reflect the Kobali)
* Reputation System (one that incorporates Polaron based weapons and enhancers)
* Fleet Holding (one that enhances Polaron based weapons and modifiers)
* Adventure Zones (both space and ground, either fighting rogue Jem Hadar, or some other hostile alien species)
* Dosi & Wadi Lobi Store Ships
* Jem Hadar Battle Cruiser Lock Box (this one)
* DS9 Revamp
* Andrew Robinson and/or Armin Shimerman voiceovers; Garak would likely be in the area, and it's a fair bet Quark would still own his bar.
All that being said, I haven't played the game in about 18 months, and recently signed back in to see what had actually changed; suffice to say, not enough. I think some more work could do with going into existing content rather than more expansions, but I also understand existing content isn't where the money is.

The Delta Quadrant is not the Gamma Quadrant, the Delta Quadrant had a wide variety of different powers shown during Voyager, the only major power that we saw in DS9 in the Gamma Quadrant was the Dominion. No single power defined the Delta quadrant like the Dominion does for the Gamma Quadrant, not even the Borg.
Plus people have been asking for a Cardassian and/Dominion faction forever, it's the most requested faction, and it's something the developers have discussed, so I find it hard to believe they will miss the opportunity to create a Dominion or Cardassian faction during the Dominon Expansion.

I guess we will see which of us is right.
Your points are all valid, but when we look at how little attention the Klingon Faction, let alone the Republic Faction get these days, it would be both foolish and futile for Cryptic to create another faction. he game has been running for too long now - too long to introduce a new faction, mini or full. I'll truly be amazed if we ever see one, especially a Dominion Faction as so many people want; Cryptic aren't about to combine the Cardassian and Dominion, and they're not likely to create a faction when most of (said factions) ships are already available to us.

like how we went to the gamma quad in our shuttle for that 1 mission in the cardassian arc?

Playable Jem'Hadar
Screen accurate Jem'Hadar
Screen accurate DS9 gear (clothes, weapons, items with visuals)
Screen Accurate DS9
More Jem'Hadar/Cardassian gear (clothes, weapons, items with visuals)
DS9 VO, though returning actors is better than cut and paste they're pushing.
Better stories and writing than this entire last arch... ouch.
no, we DO NOT want Eve online in STO

It's a melee weapon.
