Subnautica on Arc

Just noticed that Subnautica is on the Arc page. Is Arc trying to compete with Steam as a Digital Distribution Platform for games that are not related to Perfect World?

I recommend Subnautica to anyone that likes futuristic Exploration or Survival games.

    Except for the fact that Subnautica is ALSO on Steam. And frankly... nothing really CAN compete with Steam due to the sheer amount of games available though it. Battle.Net can't compete, Arc can't compete, hell... even Origin can't compete. Only one that can come close is GOG, and even then they're kinda far behind.

    Which is why I said trying to compete. There is a huge difference between trying to compete with and compete with. For years, Arc was only a Digital Distribution Platform for Perfect World games. Subnautica seems to be one of the more popular new games that Steam has. Steam used to be just like Arc with it distributing only Valve games. So if Arc is still around in 10 or 20 years, then it might compete with Steam.

    Arc has been used for non PWE for a while now.

    No. PWE are not trying to compete. Developers can contact companies with platforms like Steam or Arc on their own, too. It's entirely possible that Unknown Worlds (the developer of Natural Selection 2 and Subnautica) themselves wanted to distribute Subnautica on Arc to make the game accessible on as many places as possible (starting with Steam, then XB1, then Oculus and now on Arc, later down the road on PS4 and possibly gog).
