"General" accolades tab missing?

I'm trying to find out which accolades I've completed in the Undine Battlezone (Dyson Sphere). Specifically these ones: Denied Voth Entry, Fluidic Explosion, Just Said No to Planet Killing, Singularity Sensation, Spaceside Assistance and Tachyon Technician.

According to the wiki, they should be in the "General" tab (not to be confused with the "General Accolades" tab) of the accolades, but we don't appear to have that on the console version.

I know I've completed some of these accolades, but I can't find them anywhere in the accolades section of the mission journal. I've looked in every tab, while having the filter set to show all accolades. Therefore I assume the "General " tab in the accolades section is missing.

Steps to replicate
1) complete one of the accolades listed above in the Undine Battlezone.
2) from the main menu: go to Missions > Mission Journal > Accolades.
3) hit Y to set the filter to "show all" accolades or to "show only completed" accolades.
4) try to find that completed accolade.

Yeah, same on PS4, I know I got these accolades (and think they count towards the total - no, not gonna count them all, lol), but they remain "hidden" on consoles.

\o/ Thank you for your prompt & spot on help addresing these issues. :)

Where have you been all this time?

Can we get someone to take a look at the bug that's causing accolades to jump around? From the reports I've seen, this bug exists in all versions of the game: PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The bug was first reported in 2016, and it's still happening.

All of those posts are 2016. I'm not seeing the accolades jumping around. Are you sure this issue is still happening? Can you provide more details?

Yes, it's still happening. I saw flickering accolades when I was trying to complete the "Holiday Chef" accolade during the winter event.

Here's a video that someone uploaded to YouTube on January 11, 2017.

Here's another video from December 2, 2016, and the corresponding Reddit thread.

^^ Both are PC. I have never seen this on Console (PS4 in my case). Hope you guys can get it looked at, though.

If you look at the old reports, there were some people who also claimed to see it on Xbox One and PS4.

Can you provide the characterName@handle of a character that this consistently happens to? I'm guessing its something character specific.

I am no longer able to find a good static test case. I did see brief, momentary flickers while scrolling through the accolade list on the following characters: Bijin Senchou@frtoaster, Moira Tyche@frtoaster, and Mao Wong@frtoaster. But that was while I was dragging the scrollbar with the mouse. It seems to be better now, but I don't think the problem has completely gone away. I don't think it's specific to any particular character. I think it depends on the number of accolades you have completed, the number of accolades you have started, the size of the "Accolades" tab, and the exact position of the scrollbar.

OK, I was wrong: It's not related to the position of the scroll bar. What's happening is that the sort order of the accolades keeps changing. See the bug report below. The video in the bug report was recorded on January 23, 2018, after the patch.

    Holodeck ticket 4,659,073: Flickering accolades

Momentary flickers for the first couple of frames is somewhat expected when you are dragging the scroll bar. Data is probably loading while you scroll which takes time and it has to get sorted which causes flickering as the rows are re-positioned.

I don't quite understand why this would be expected though. Why don't you sort the rows into the correct positions before you display them? Why do you display the rows, resort them, and then display them again? I've seen similar problems in other places in the UI. After the window is drawn, it gets redrawn with new data. Sometimes, the delay can be as long as a few seconds; for example, in the doff and Exchange windows. Sometimes, the initial data is wrong, and you have to mouse over it to force a refresh.

The accolades tab is very old. The engineer who wrote it doesn't work here any more. The redraw can be a result of lag as data is downloaded from the server or loaded from disk. Most of the UI was built to attempt to instantly use what ever data it has at the moment. Some of the UI has optimizations that try to detect if a refresh is needed, or otherwise refresh every few seconds.

We try to find, document, and fix them as time permits.

Thank you for the detailed repro steps and video. That is very helpful. Yeah it shouldn't be resorting like that. I'll get this added to the backlog.

OK, thanks for looking into this. I've reported a number of UI bugs over the years. I doubt all of them have the same root cause, but many have similar symptoms. Let me know if you would like a list. I'll probably start a new thread for this, since I've gotten this thread far enough off-topic already. I also have to search through my old posts to find those old bug reports.
