Rook's "Let's Talk" About the Endgame Between Seasons/Episodes/Events/Lockboxes/Sales/Weekends

New season? We're all over that. New Featured Episode? You betcha! Yearly or returning event? Time to get those new vouchers. New Lockbox? Get all the things! Huge sale? Time to open wallet! Weekend event? Better make time in my busy schedule for this one!

..but then what? What do you do during the lull between these things, when nothing particularly interesting is happening?

Rook is proud to hold a Let's Talk(TM) discussion about what you do during the lulls!

There's a lull? I'd like for there to be a lull. That way I can run some episodes with my other characters and get them to endgame.

Can't do much myself until I get another computer, but I usually craft, catch up my other toons, run RAs or DSEs and run ship traits on alts after getting them on mains.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I'm too busy levelling my fleet to be worried about a lull. I spend more time doing that than actual content!! Lol

    Nothing.

In fact I've found myself doing almost nothing during recent events as well.

There's nothing I want in game atm, so I've just been running the daily for the Breen ship, then logging off.

Eh... been lurking mostly. Saving up ECs for any potential Discovery gear and trying to decide if I want to do the Crazy again and start grinding out Dilithium for Zen to save up for the next Expansion's bundle.

And before a certain Ferengi accuses me of being Poverty... I'm not. Its not just ECs that make someone Space Rich. Its the assets too.

Why do I always get talked into doing the Crazy?

I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Mostly I just poke at the Forums and /r/sto Reddit (lurking, don't even have a Reddit account) without bothering to login into the game itself. I also don't bother to login for sales if it's the only thing going on.

The last ship I really wanted was the Vengeance, and I got that a few days after it came out. I've got plenty of EC, refined Dil and Zen ground up already, so pre-grinding to get that squared away for whatever comes next is not something I need to particularly worried about. I'm currently doing the Winter race, since I skipped most of it from not needing the ship or it's Admiralty card, but the trait is seeming overpowered so I'm making up at least most of the thingies to get the ship.

When the grind is out of the way I do teamed PvE with my friends, fleet mates & DPS league folks for fun. :)

Best time of every STO season for me.

Acquiring many contrabands. I could found a whole new colony with the amount of commodities I have now, or start a penal colony.

Maybe some queues as well. Then the same with two of my other toons, then log into my fed and realise I don't like the fed side and log off.

So that's maybe an hour or two a day. Then it's either Fallout 2 or a Civ game.

Working on my characters, chatting, enjoying the game... I could use more lull time...

Playing SWTOR and finding a better space barbie fix over there than here. (no categories for outfits there) Not in to breen ships so really the entire winter event was a big lull for me. That being said I've made legendary status in finishing all the class story leveling missions in SWTOR and leveling each class to 70. Grindy in a way but they actually had story that was filling to make the grind less observable.

As for end game, I didn't realize there was an actual end game in STO outside of upgrade grinds and dil farming for upgrades and Z store purchases.

None of the other games I play have an "endgame." Few of them even have level caps that I'm aware of. The game just continues.

Do some admiralty, help some new players out, chat with fleet mates, do some crafting and tinkering with my main ships.

What's the endgame in other games you like?

Well instead of having to go through an upgrade system that has a random chance at actually upgrading the item after dumping dilithium in to it I can actually save up tokens and/or get the items from boss drops in dungeons/raids. PvP offers upgrade paths as well with token rewards to save up for things. Finally tier gear like ships/armor/etc aren't tied to online monetized store purchases but actually going out and doing content in the game.

Fleet Projects, first. Doffing, practice shooting things.
And the "must do": playing around with ship gear, specialization, skill trees and traits.

I wish there was more down time between events as well as between new rep, new FEs and new specializations. Because all of this brings more and more "stuff" to "look into". At least, there is enough to keep me busy for years.
