I've of course noticed that a lot of missions that fit into the various story arcs (Federation player specifically), like the Cardassian and Romulan ones, have been cut since the revamp. A lot of those missions fit nicely into the story progression and it would be nice to be able to have the option to play them somehow for nostalgia purposes and to fill in some blanks that are now present in the story arcs.
Note: I'm referring to the missions that were present more than 2 years ago, before the 6-10 episode per arc platform took effect.
Is there some NPC somewhere that still can permit access to these missions? If not, could we please have some side NPC opened to allow the option to play some expanded storylines?

The story was what got me hooked on the game, the missions where a fun change from the previous mmo i was playing.
Honestly, for me, some of the missions that where retired where really, really bad.. like Divide et Impera.. and some others, that I'm quite happy they removed, merged or revamp, those where filler missions, designed to keep you wasting your time longer, in a time the game was not F2P.

The ground maps were all terrible and generic, and most of the space maps weren't much better. Even the best of them had maybe half of a good story idea, and it ended up going nowhere. I can't honestly say that I miss a single one of them.
How did that work TrekPuppy? Did you just have these missions active when the revamp happened so you were able to still access them through what's basically a loophole? Or did you have another way of getting a hold of these missions? I'll definitely have to find you one of these days soon
And while I do understand that all the most important points were kept in the revamp, there are still several inconsistencies in the way the episodes are set up now. There are a number of dialogues throughout various missions that comment things like - Hey remember when you fought so and so, or found such and such, before - only those things never happened because they were in a deleted episode. It isn't incredibly often that that happens but it's still enough to be noticeable if you're paying attention to NPC dialogue.
the funny thing is that playtime on mission hasn't changed that much sure there's less missions now but those missions are longer. The missions removed were some of the oldest missions in game and it showed.
I can't think of a single instance of this. Does Ja'rod mention meeting Federation players before in Cure Applied?
I don't remember anything about Ja'rod from the old Federation storyline but I do remember noticing the discrepancies in regards to Obisek, T'Nae, and the Bajorans. Also, there were more interactions between Starfleet and the Hirogen that were also cut in the revamp, and I think T'Nae makes a remark about the character having found out who Sela's Delta Quadrant allies were even though that entire story arc is no longer available.
I actually liked Rapier.
Think of STO as a yard, and the old missions as shrubs. Strictly speaking, there's nothing wrong with the shrubs - they're alive, they're doing okay, they aren't sick or a threat to anything. But they're plain, boring, uninteresting. They're nothing special at all, merely filler in the yard.
Well, eventually, they buy some rose bushes - mission revamps. There's less of them than there are shrubs, yes, but they're bigger and much nicer-looking, better complimenting the newer landscaping they've put in as the yard has expanded. You *could* keep the shrubs, but why? The rose bushes are nicer and would look much better where those shrubs are now.
So, to improve the yard, they remove the shrubs and plant the rose bushes where they used to be. There's less of them now, but they're an objective improvement over the old shrubs and do the same job of tying the yard together, but better.
But I guess it's cool to hate on Cryptic's every decision, even when it's a smart one.

You misspelled the word "subjective".
Also don't be a weed growing in the yard - aka don't be condescending in my thread.
have to agree with that comment. Those cut missions did not fit anymore into the story as a whole, so they got cut. Also, we shouldn't be looking at the game from a long time player's perspective, but rather from a new player's perspective...and in that regard cutting those missions, cutting the random mission "exploration" garbage, made perfect sense.
Not substituting them for even more quality content is another discussion, but the decission to remove sub par content makes perfect sense, and normaly, we wouldn't even know about it, since these changes happen in alpha or beta, which basically STO, until Romulans came, was. It was filler content to reach max level, and was obsolete when they revamped the whole story arc.
Oh, now there I do most heartily disagree! I loved the old system with the clusters and nebulae, in which there was an actual map, and sometimes you found R&D mats and sometimes it was a system to explore. And I loved the randomly generated planet maps. Yes, they were simple, but they were something new every time. I found them to be good content for late nights, when I was too tired for anything complicated.
yeah, you may have liked, it. No problem with that and I'm sorry they took it away from you, however, from an objective developement standpoint it was repetitive garbage, designed to fill the grind gap when there was no story content available to reach max level. Just pointing out the obvious.
"something new every time" no, just no...there were 5 "distinct" missions on rotation...sure they changed the pretty colours every time, but at their core there were 5 different missions.
He didn't use the word subjective (unless you were being facetious and argumentative). And I didn't see any condescension, merely allegory to explain what was done with the revamp.
And it makes perfect sense to me too. Although I also miss the Exploration clusters, I'm not going to complain about them being taken away. And if the thread on the last podcast is accurate, they're working on another exploration design. I'll wait and see what goes on before passing my opinion.

When you pull up to the starting System in Sector Space you will not get the pop-up. If you enter the System you will get the fly-by naming the Mission. You can play the Mission normally and will get XP and drops from kills. There is NO way to complete the Mission for the final rewards, you just have to Warp out or whatever.
I believe a few enterprising souls may have recreated a few of them in the Foundry.

Correct. Wise from years of accolade hunting I always try to keep all current missions queued on at least one toon in case Cryptic just removes them from the episode list. I'm usually online noon/evening European time but as I said, I've shared them with more people in Accolades so hopefully you can find someone there to help you if I'm not available.
