Admirals don't command individual ships; their flagship is commanded by a Captain, because the Admiral is busy directing the entire task force.
Fleet Admirals don't go out in ships at all; they stay at HQ and command entire fleets, hence the name.
Why not just stop with the rank inflation at Captain, and simply use the numeric level as the only qualifier needed from that point on? Most of my toons are set up exactly that way - it's not their fault that so many civilians can't read Starfleet rank insignia, and keep calling them "admiral"...

Hehe nice! I granted only my main toon the rank of Rear Admiral (or whatever Tuvok has) but go with captains or even commanders on my other chars tops. Everything else just feels ridiculous. At least we have that choice as far as the tailor works.

We don't command our ships either. We fly them. On manual control no less.
This is a videogame. We take orders from lieutenants, we helm our own ships and fire weapons on manual control, we fight our own ground battles and do preschool-level puzzles by ourselves while our supposed subordinates stand around twiddling their thumbs.
Why not just stop with the rank inflation at Ensign? Because having the game acknowledge the players' level progress makes it feel more real. Because it's more plausible you unlock better ships by rank than some arbitrary number. And because most people think it's cool.
Of course, there is a choosable title in our character profiles, so the game really should be taking advantage of that to address us instead of defaulting to "Admiral" all the time. Then players who want to be addressed as "Admiral" could choose that and those who want to be addressed as something else could choose something else.
Voth Ground Battlezone needs the area where the silo's are located to have a larger shielded area to prevent silo camping. Or better, if you are camping before the V-Rex spawns you will be transported back to the command center within 10 secs if you do not move away from the silo.
Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.
Somtaaw, that just makes it worse. If I am THE Fleet Admiral, what in the name of Gre'thor is my command doing, permitting me to take a ship out into unexplored territory? I'm supposed to be back at a desk somewhere, conducting Fleet operations, not running around the frontier like a Kirk wannabe!
You do realize that Fleet Admiral and Dahar Master are really honorary ranks.
Admiralty could use a spruce-up with suggested assignments like Doffing.

Dunno about Dahar Master, but Fleet Admiral is an actual, existing military rank. It's the admiral who's in charge of an entire fleet, not just the usual command or task force. That's one reason why until we untether rank names from numbers, we can't get any more level cap advances, because the next step after Fleet Admiral would be President of the Federation.
For the United States, where the Star Trek writers mostly came from, Admirals commanded Fleets in WWII. They created the five-star rank and, for the Navy, awarded it to four people only in 1944, the last dying in 1966. No one was promoted to that since. It was done basically to have five-star ranks in the US Navy equivalent to the five-star of other navies.
Theoretically there is a possibility of a six-star rank called Admiral of the Navy.

Level/Rank is an FCT topic. Let's please move along.

Well, didn't know that as it seems it was edited to the July 2014 post in June 2017 and did not also get a new post which would have highlighted it.

Personally should of stopped us at Rear Admiral. Why? Just senior enough to make captains listen, but just junior enough to get away with still acting like a captain. And like Star Trek: SFC games, started letting us bring 3 ships on solo missions to represent a squadron and allowed us to promote BOFFS to captain to command ships
Done basic commands like carriers and bam, now we're admirals a d immersion successful. With raids and such you default to 1 ship and such.
RA upper and higher ranks should of been reserved for actual fleet leadership.
