Wouldn't it be cool to be able to customize your weapons cosmetically
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
While this thread covers ship weaponry, that's just half of the game; for the rest, consider the idea put forward here...

I vaguley remember that. Was a power hue setting or something input via the chat box. Was neat to play around with until it got locked.
However, I think it would be best if it was disabled during PVP/competitive matches.
Outfit customization isn't disabled, either. That's silly.
Still I don't think this is a huge priority.
However I do wish they would update a few REP weapon's or Crafted Weapons. Klingon Honor Guard were very well designed as were some of the Omega; yet love to see updated Plasma Flamethrower!
I was surprised when they revised the TR-116b Sniper Rifle with a completely awesome new look! It was amazing...
weapon customization could also be incorporated into R&D, since that's what R&D is for instead of going to waste.

"We are Grey. We stand between the darkness and the light."
– Grey Council greeting
If memory serves of when this was allowed briefly back in 2010 after launch, people abused this and colored their weapons in such a way that they couldn't be seen when they fired. That caused a huge uproar from the PVP community, which lead to the feature being disabled, originally.
The antiproton rifles (not the set weapons) from TFO and NSF are big offenders in this regard, using the exact same coloration as their vanilla siblings. Surely it can't be that much work to replace that white/red scheme with black/green (TFO) and grey/blue (NSF).
If you make your pasta from rice instead of wheat it will be fatfree.
I'd like a set-up similar to the visual slots. 1 beam, 1 cannon, 1 torp. Then you can control each one. Go for a canon look or ignore the options and have visual rainbow spam.
I see no negative aspect and the PVP argument is BS now as there are shield visuals and the like so it's no longer possible to know what someone is equipped with by looking at a ship. Plus who in their right mind is going to visualize the 50 or so colours to ID an energy type these days?!?!?
I would agree with this with a minor variation, aka have the weapons stay within their "category" (so you couldn't have assault weapon that looks like a pistol or a torp look like a beam) but other then that I'd see no major issues and yes I'd want this on ground too not just space.
2. The TR-116 fires an invisible projectile to begin with. To say nothing of a bazillion special abilities that have no visible projectile. PvP is stoopid.
3. I was under the impression this was about customizing the weapons, not the projectiles?

I'd second that.
