I honestly can't understand how the show keeps getting better.
The actress who played T'Leya (I'm guessing on the name) was especially good. She was kind and sweet when she thought they were Krill, and switched to a perfect disdainful hostility when she was talking to humans. I hope (and think) we'll see more from her, at least as T'Leya, but maybe other roles as well (although I don't expect to recognize her).

*EDIT* Oh my God, I looked her up, and we're practically from the same town. Weird.

It's a lot better than the previous episode, thats for sure! I found the Krill culture unforgiving to the outsider, it's a perfect way to explore their culture but under the circumstances it seems Mercer did everything he could with what he had available.

The only time i got a reaction from this series to date from the comedy aspect is the Isaac and Kitan conversation just after Bortus showed off what his species can eat.

The actor James Horan playing as Sazeron seems too familiar but i didn't go looking him up until after the episode, i couldn't place from where until i realised he played a Jem'Hadar in DS9 half way through the episode, the acting is far too familiar between the character Ikat'ika and Sazeron.

One of those Krill kind of sounded like Ducat from DS9. I wonder if they ended up finishing the xeroxing the book or did they just take just take the lazy way out and send the Admiral the one from the ship. :P

You know what I don't get? Why didn't Mercer just pretend to be Avis and just scare the pants off the crew into not bombing the colony long enough for Malloy to disable the bomb? You got a holo imager, you got the Krill Bible. A quick read up, a few tweaks to the parameters, you could have given them a religious experience and they would think the bomb is a dud.

Ah well. Hindsight is whatever Krill use to measure eyesight.

Apart of the briefing by the Admiral to Mercer was that the Krill are fantatical extremists that follow their religon and part of this religon is that other races are inferior.

If Mercer has acted as you suggested it would be very suspicious because he would be acting in such a way that not only violates the chain of command he is pretending to be in, but it would be like spitting on the very texts these people take very seriously by threatening to kill these people and one of which he is pretending to be, it would also be completely out of character.

"Heretic" and "Traitor" comes to mind when he is finished and i don't even want to imagine what they would do to him when they realise he is bluffing and they call it for him.

This episode was funny as hell, and indisputable proof that Gordon is an absolute moron. Was also nice to learn about the Krill, was afraid they'd be similar to Klingons but thankfully they are very different.

I liked the story, and I thought the jokes worked, once again, better than before. They are really finding their groove, I think.

And yeah, I also got a real Gul Dukat vibe from one of the Krill.
The idea of the Krill being some fanatical believers works for me.

I am reminded a bit of the Culture Novels, where the Culture enters its first real war against an enemy that believes that they are the only species with an immortal soul - because they are naturally immortal as well (e.g. they can die from harm, but not from aging), they believe none of the mortal species could possibly have one.

Great episode. The Krill prosthetics are done well enough for them to be believable, yet also able to convey emotion. Also the Krill teacher was lovely acted and dare I say very attractive.

I overall enjoyed the episode. I kind of got the feeling that Ed and Malloy were being volunteered as expendable pawns for the mission. We already know that they the admiralty doesn't particularly care for either of them, so its not unthinkable that they would be viewed as disposable. Well at least the mission was a resounding success, although the Krill might not view it that way.

It was nice to see another class of Union ship, the USS Olympia. I'm assuming that she was more of a combat vessel due to her size. Now if we could just get some beauty shots of those smaller two ring ships and we would have a much better idea on the general design rules for Union ships.

I honestly can't understand how the show keeps getting better.

    Because it's not Discovery.

Maybe CBS will buy the rights to The Orville and slap the Star Trek name on it and assimilate them into Starfleet for season 2. :P

I can picture it now... Yaphit and Barclay's Holodeck fantasies gone wild while Data and Isaac discuss humanity and the context of practical jokes. :D

I'm sorry...but this is The Orville. If you want that level of stupidity, Star Trek Discovery is over that way.
Heh, I guess you didn't get the reference. It's to a video game. Met me show you it:

    Why not?

Never mind....it is on....they are just repeating the first episode.
So, I set up my DVR to record it, again. :)

I'm not sure why, was referring to new episodes though and ignoring repeats :). My wife's favorite show (Grey's Anatomy) isn't gonna be on at all either. At first I thought maybe it was because of the World Series but it looks like that will be the following week, when both of these shows have a new episode, so I have no idea.

Because Fox likes to kill sci fi. I mean that is the weakest link in this whole Orville deal. It's on Fox...and it's a a good sci fi show...which means, it's doomed.

Yeah, I was pretty hot after they canceled Almost Human. :(
But Hubby said: its FOX they cancel everything at a drop of a hat.

Krill reminded me of a more fanatical version of the Jem'hadar.
Of course, imagine the Jem'hadar without the founders and Vorta physically present to rein them in...

Didn't care for this episode. Very much apparent they cannot decide whether to make this show into a comedy or a serious drama. Hoping next week is better.

That's true. I love the show; but yes, they kinda need to make up their minds. This Ep, at least, was too much comedy to be taken as a serious story.
