Not given enough dry dock slots...

I bought 5 slots, but only received 3 of them. I have contacted support from in game about 3 days ago now but have yet to even have a response.

Is there anything further I can do ?

How many in total do you currently have on that character? All characters start out with 5 dry dock slots. If you bought 5 more, then you should have a total of 10.

Due to the Labor Day Weekend holiday, the earliest you will get a response from Cryptic Support is Tuesday, Sept 5th. Keep in mind there are likely other people in front of you.

Just wait it out. Turning to the forum shows you want it resolved quiker than you're getting, but we can't magically solve/help you either. Only Support can. You could maybe try and page the CM too; but he'll likely tell you to exhaust the Support route too.

P.S. Support in this game is notoriously de facto absent. But they usually come true on RL money issues; so, again, I'd just wait it out, and maybe get back to them, in a few days, when you haven't heard back from them yet.

^^ This is actually the better answer. Totally forgot about Labor Day Weekend.

Ok, they got back to me. First of all they wanted a few more details, which I provided. Now they say they want permission to log into my account ? Is this normal practice ? I would never dream of handing over my bank log in details, so why would this be any different ?

I know it's only a game, but there are many hundreds of pounds invested into it... I'm kinda worried I guess haha.

How many dry dock slots do you have?

Did you subscribe for a month and dry-dock ships while subbed? I think you get extra slots, then when your sub ends the game "loans" you those extra slots. So if you had 2 slots "on loan" you'd now only have 3 empty slots.

I used to be a gold member. Paid sub for a couple of years. I thought you got to keep stuff after the sub stops ? I stopped playing for over a year so stopped the sub.

I still have other things such as the bank slots etc...

And in any case, I looked before I bought the slots so I know how many were added. I can't remember without logging in how many that is though....

So anyway ? Do I let them log into my account ? Is this normal ?

When you pay the monthly sub fee you get 5 free ship slots per character. However... you only keep those 5 ship slots as long as you continue to sub or you buy the LTS. If you stop subbing, you lose the 5 free slots, you also loose the extra character slot, and of course the monthly 500 Zen stipend.

If any of those ship slots (or the character slot) is occupied, then effectively you are simply borrowing those slots. Removing ship from dry dock that is beyond the 5 initial dry dock slots each character has and any that you have outright purchased will cause the slot to disappear. The same thing applies to the free character slot.

For example, you have 5 the default 5 dry dock slots. You then decide to by another 5 dry dock slots. You now have a total of 10 dry dock slots that you own on that specific character. Later you decide to pay the month sub fee to the game. At this point you have a total of 15 dry dock slots on that particular character (all other characters would have 10 dry dock slots). Plus you have an extra character slot. On that character with the 15 dry dock slots, you decide to use 13 of those slots.

You later decide that you want to cancel the monthly sub. At that point all your characters lose 5 dry dock slots. The specific character with 15 dry dock slots, now have only 13 slots. 10 of them you own. The other 3 you are borrowing from Cryptic. You decide to remove one ship from dry dock. You now have only 12 dry dock slots; of which, 2 are being borrowed.

Now you decide you want to buy 5 more dry dock slots for that character. This will bring back your total dry dock slots to 15. The 2 dry dock slots you have been borrowing from Cryptic are now yours to keep.

With regards to the extra character slot... If you did not use the slot to create a character, then the slot is gone. If the slot is currently occupied with a character, then you are borrowing the character slot. If you delete one of your existing characters, then the slot is gone. If you decide to buy 2 more character slots, then you will only get 1 more character slot because you purchased the slot that you have been borrowing.

That is highly irregular. No one should be asking you for your password. I think someone is phishing you.

I *think* it's pretty normal, actually, for a GM to ask permission to log into your account, when they want to visually assess the situation for themselves. Keep in mind this is not a bank: they have 100% access to your account and everything you own already, as it is (primarily because you don't really own anything: you have a license to play, is what). The asking is just a courtesy, really.

    Yeah.
I'd just make sure to verify that the emails you're getting in response from support do indeed have the proper email address.

If everything looks good on that end, I'd go ahead and allow them to take a look.

I gave them permission to log in and it was exactly what was said above. I gave up my sub and so lost the slots, which I thought was a bit crappy to be honest, after the length of time I subbed for... But there we go.

They didn't ask for any passes.

But I now have a new problem....

I had an Email from them saying that in order to get back into my Game/Account I need to reset my password, but I cannot find anyway to do that !

I am still logged into these forums and when I go to change password, I need to put in my new one and also my old one/Current one. Which it then tells me is wrong. So I cannot change anything that way.

I have scoured the Support page looking for a simple link to send a password reset via Email, but can find nothing. Searches result in a load of useless TRIBBLE that has nothing to do with resetting a password :-(

    Anyone have any ideas ?

Did that email include a link to a page specifically for doing this password change?

    Yes it did :pensive:

To regain access to your account, please go to https://www.arcgames.com/en/sign/trouble and reset your password.

But click on the link and see what happens. It just redirects to the regular ARC page.

Not if I paste it into a different browser than the Chrome that I normally use. If I paste the link into Edge instead it stays on the trouble page. Try that.
  • earwigvr6earwigvr6 Member Posts: 293 Arc User
Ah ! Didn't even think to try that ! It worked ! Appears the link does not work in Chrome :-(

It's not about Chrome, it just doesn't work if you're already logged in to the website.

No, I can verify that some sites only have full functionality in IE. I use Firefox, a vastly more accepted browser than Chrome given it's been out alot longer, and sometimes I have to load up IE just to use a site (a number of bank sites the most guilty of this). Yeah, if you get a link that doesn't seem to work even if it should then try it in IE...

Whatever. The "forgot password" page nonetheless simply doesn't show up if you're already logged in. On any browser.
